We should do a sim league in here. Kinda what we've got going on with the All-Time Draft, but you get a current NBA team, make trades with other owners, and then a season (or seasons) are simulated on a video game.
Used to do them all the time as a kid.

Wait.. I want to make a deal too. Our #1 pick in this years draft and Brandon Wright for Andrew Bynum. If the pick isnt a top 4 pick then we will give up our #1 pick next year as well. Pete.. deal?
Haha. I'd only do it for Wall.
what about for ricky rubio and you give me bynum, i will then make al jefferson avaialble for a sg
That's a tough one, but I'd say no. I REALLY like Rubio, but his best asset (being a superb distributor as a pure PG) isn't how the triangle offense is built. We're obviously in "win now" mode, and I don't think Rubio helps us do that in the triangle offense.

You should simulate a season with the teams as they are, and THEN do all the trades and such and simulate the season again.
Whoever improves their team's performance the most, wins.
Ya, otherwise its hey i picked the Lakers, Celtics, etc ... I win.

what do you mean by performance, would that be just wins? if so it would be hard to win for people who have the lakers, celtics, magic and cavs.

Yeah, it'd be a lot of fun. I don't want to lead anyone on here -- I don't have any new hoops video games where this could be done. But if someone does and has some time to spare, I'd be willing to help set it up.

Couldnt you do it on that simleague website we're using for the All NBA Draft? You dont even need a video game, you could just use that I believe...
Oh, and yeah, I'd be down for this lol

That's not the point of the trade machine.
Trade machine only ensures trades will work from a financial aspect; it does not take into account, in any way, player value or common sense.

Chris Bosh for Andrew Bynum
LAKERS REPEAT
Wow. Seriously? I love Bosh's game but I just dont see how you trade Bynum. Can the Warriors give you the #1 pick in the draft for Bynum if we get it????? Centers with his talent and youth are just impossible to find anymore.
No way.
Wow. Again we differ. I would make that deal in a heartbeat. I just dont want to go another 10 years of undersized, and non talented centers. Bynum is still only 22 years old!
Bynum C
Randolph PF
Ellis SG
Curry PG
That would be an amazing and young group to build around. Just add another talented wing player and you have playoff contender year in and year out. Not that it will ever happen.
You're overrating Andrew Bynum.
I like him too, but he's not worth the #1 pick. Not even close.

I'm down for the sim league idea if anyone can figure out how to make it work.

And I think you overrate the #1 pick in the draft. Put it this way.... if Bynum was coming out right now with the skill set he has there is no question in my mind that he would be the first or second player chosen. There simply are not big men out there anymore than can be 20-10 guys and are a presence in the middle. Point guards can be obtained in every single draft. 7 foot skilled centers? Rarely

Generally you're right regarding the rarity of centers. But I still think you're overrating Bynum. He's not a game-changing presence or a franchise player. The greatest thing he has going for him is his bulk and strength, which like you said....is rare.
I think it would be incredibly foolish to trade for Andrew Bynum and try to make him the #1 option, which is what you'd essentially be doing by trading the first pick in the draft for him.
