2009 Oakland A's thread

True but I was thinking about the team trading up before the draft.

Both those trades, weren't they deals made after their original team drafted them and then traded him later in the night.

W's luck, they'll have a couple of teams jump them and they'll be picking 8th or 9th.
Geez, how do you give up 6 runs in one inning and only allow 2 hits.

Ineptitude...
In other news, Geise sent to the DL, shocker!

Gio called up.

Gallagher has really been my disappointment this year. Although I still believe he got screwed by the A's front office by not giving him a starting spot in the rotation to begin the season, but his two starts so far this season hasn't exactly inspired many.

I am writing a paper and got sidetracked... I look at the A's score and im like "Im not surprised"
Saw 860 give themselves the "name" XTRA Sports 860.

Lineup isn't that great, you'd think seeing it it's more of an LA sports scene than it is locally.

Course we're not gonna get what we want at the very beginning with this radio station, but I'll take small steps and hopefully it becomes the alternative for east bay sports fans.

Don't know how likely it is for the Raiders to move to 860 and how the scheduling conflicts in SEP would work it's way out but that could be a huge move since I don't know if those east bay sports fans who listend to 1050 back a decade ago when it was a pro easty bay sports station know of 860 yet.
Geez...
9 runs scored on only 4 hits.
11 runs on 6 hits.

4 straight games giving up 10+ runs.

Tragic.
we quite possibly have the worst pitching in all of baseball
Pen is pretty damn good.

Rotation, it is what is is.

Braden, as well as he's pitched, he's still a 4/5 on most MLB teams especially those of playoffs.

Gallagher has been up and down all year long.

Cahill IMO has pitched as well as you could expect up until his last outing. BBs and control are an issue.

Anderson, the blister sure hasn't help him.

Outman, meh.

Gio, up and down, up and down...don't know one week from the next whether he'll be in AAA or in the bigs and when he's in the bigs, he's being misused by Geren, surprise surprise.

Eveland has regressed badly.

Oh yeah, and Duke is out for most of the first half.
If we are still going to continue a run at the playoffs... Ben Sheets should be a priority of Billy Beane...

PS Jack Cust could be our lone all star game rep
Run at the playoffs? You serious?

I thought the odds weren't great when they even were remotely healthy and playing up to their potential, I just don't see how this team is playing and constructed be it with health, that they could make a run.

At this point, I think the A's all star rep will be between either Cust or Suzuki, although who knows, if Holliday continues to hit well and as an A's fan, you have to hope for that even if it's just to pump up his trade value, could also make a run since he's probably the biggest name on this team.

I am being serious... Its not like this division is very good and its only what 35-40 games into the season... you never know

and as an A's fan I would love to see Cust in the all star game as he is my favorite player... but I wouldn't be upset if zooks made it.
Correction, the A's haven't given up 10+ runs the last 4, they gave up 9 over the weekend.

But they've still ben outscored 13-47 the past 4 games.

Shields, Kazmir, Garza...that's the 3 pitchers the A's have left remaining to face this series...not looking good and could be an awful road trip.
