I jus get so pissed off by this team... we put a couple of games together and then we start sucking again. I am verging on the cusp of giving up on the season...

Again was listening to 1140 FRI and the color guy for the Kings was on and he mentioned Evans as a guy who could jump from a late half of the lottery pick to a potential top 3-4 pick, as he too along with Napier the day before didn't think there was a logical and concrete pick, in this case Rubio, for the #2 spot behind Griffen.

Evans as the next Penny? I've read a comparison made of him being a very similar player to another former W player, although for a short time, in Hughes.

Should be interesting pitching matchup today.

Braden who probably has been the A's best SP this season so far against the pitcher a lot of A's fans had hoped they would've drafted two years ago in the draft in Porcello.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse but I think a lot of A's fans will be comparing Porcello and Simmons MLB career with each other, just as A's fans will do with last year's draft with Weeks compared to a Wallace/Hicks.

Well Oakland mayor Dellums has chosen I guess the Howard Terminal site. Well back in the spring of 02, this was my second fav site, behind the uptown/downtown site.

But cost is a huge drawback from relocating the existing shipping company on that site to all the clean up and a whole lot of other money issues improving the site overall.

But in terms of location, IMO it was the most visual appealing. You would be right next to JLS where it's supposedly getting a face lift in the next decade, it's on the waterfront. Be sort of like AT&T with the waterfront backdrop along with a touch of Safeco with the Amtrak trains and other trains barreling by every so often past the park location.

I still don't think it's gonna happen but I could see why those who still hope they could find a legit location for an A's site but this HT site has way too many issues.

That was definitely the best site in Oakland for the A's, probably right up there with just blowing up the Coliseum and building the new one in the parking lot.

If Braden going to pitch today? I thought his hand was still messed up from that Wells line drive.

Yeah that's what all the reports are, Braden is pitching today.

As for the sites? I would've ranked the coliseum site as one of the worst sites when HOK came up with the many sites they presented to the Oakland city council in 02.

Those sites included Howard Terminal, uptown/downtown, Oak to 9th which is about a mile south of the JLS site, Laney site which is close to the site that was mentioned weeks ago at ML's blog which in this pic you can see is right where the Laney baseball field is at....



IMO the coliseum site I don't think is a good site to build a baseball park. It's in one of the least desirable places in Oakland and I dont' think there is a lot of upside compared to the other sites listed above. Course it'd maybe be the cheapest to build a park and the transit to that park is an A+ with freeway/bart access being the best but in terms of the most ceiling to revitalize an area in the city of Oakland, it's one of the worst IMO.

yeah I was thinking in terms of price. Because either Oakland has to commit to the best possible option, JLS, or commit to the cheapest, which would be building it in the same place. I really hope they find a way to build it in JLS because that would just be awesome, but at the same time...I dunno....San Jose?

yup...

Porcello looks very good, ableit who can really take pitching well against the A's this season as a good barometer of how well you're REALLY pitching.

we are a depressing bunch.

Again, I'm already looking towards the future as I mentioned in previous posts.

I'm just looking forward to maybe who the A's could get in potential trades of key veterans on this team.

But I don't know if teams even that are desperate would be willing to offer up their top prospects for lets say a Holliday especially when there is no sure thing he'll resign even if you deal him to a NYY or BOS.

In this economy, I think a lot of teams are gonna keep on their hot shot prospects and try to build thru youth like TB did these past few years or even how BOS is doing now with them developing the likes of a Pedroia, Ellsbury and in the near future an Anderson their stud 1B prospect.

Damn have a weekend Raburn! Its a perfect day in Detroit not a cloud in the sky so far! 3 hours till game time.
