Hate to say it but I know a lot of A's fans and I'm getting there is that maybe losing and stinking it up this bad isn't a bad thing just in terms of the draft.
The 2010 draft supposedly is a lot better than this year's draft. And if the A's can land a top 5 pick at least, play a huge role in trying to land that big time talent be it a pitcher or hitter, although I'd still rather land a hitter than pitcher because I think the A's have the pitching but it's just not ready yet.
Maybe a reason why the A's may hold onto Holliday and land two picks in next year's draft giving them 3 picks maybe in the first 40.
Unless the A's can land a LaPorta type prospect from a team desperate for a Holliday, I wouldn't mind keeping Holliday and just getting the picks for him.

Funny two guys who most A's fans wanted to keep in Wash and Scutaro are ripping it up and the two guys who Beane kept in Geren and Crosby, well nuff said.

Powell likely headed to DL.
8th time they're gonna use it and we're in the 6th or 7th week of the season.
This after 55 uses over the past two seasons.
Sigh...

If the A's do deal Holliday.
I'd just rather see Sweeney, Buck, and Cunningham as the starting trio for the last few months of the season.
See what each can do, especially in the case of Buck and Sweeney.
Pitching? Send Cahill and or Anderson down.
Rotation-Braden, Outman, Gallagher, Gio.
Give the youngsters who belong in the bigs a two month audition at the end of the season.

Trade bait, that's what I see a lot of the current veterans on this team being by the trade deadline in a few months.

I'm listening to a local radio sports station in NY and they're talking about the Mets wanting to trade for Matt Holliday. Maybe you guys can land a Reyes or Wright?
Your GM does like to land a bunch of prospects though...

They're not gonna deal either of those two PROVEN studs.
At best the A's would ask for their young OF prospect Martinez, who at this point I don't know would even better than Gonzalez although Martinez I still believe is under 20 years of age.

yeah right. There's no way in hell any team would trade one of the best young 3B's or SS's in the game for a 30 year old OF who has yet to prove he can hit the ball outside of Colorado.

Damn time flies man. I thought he was only like 26 or 27. Never mind that then lol. I'm not quite sure the Mets have the best prospects. They do have 1 player that they like a lot and refuse to trade. Not quite sure what his name is.

I think best case scenario would to trade Holliday to a team that may need to add a big bat and they have a legit 3B prospect.
Alvarez, Vitters, Moustakas, and Dominguez seem like the top rated 3B prospects in baseball.
Alvarez, even though he's struggling bad, no way PIT whos in rebuilding stages will deal him.
Vitters, didn't trade him to the A's in the Harden deal, doubt they'll deal him for Holliday although they have a 3B for the foreseeable future and a good one in Rameriz.
Moustakas, well they have Gordon at 3B, Butler at 1B/DH. Unless Gordon/Moustakas moves to 1B or even the OF, they may have a log jam and the AL Central is wide open this year and KC has the pitching led by Grienke, although don't know they'd deal away their top prospect for a half year rental like MIL did last year with LaPorta.
Dominguez, Marlins don't see like a franchise that deals away top prospects but trades for them.
