Who cares. The Yanks are getting Manny.

Jeter Thinks Manny Would Fit In Fine With Yanks

MLB.com - Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter believes that free agent slugger, and former AL East rival, Manny Ramirez would fit in fine with the team.

"I don't know him personally, with the exception of playing against him and on some All-Star teams," Jeter said. "I know he's had a lot of success everywhere he's gone, and it seems his teams have done been pretty good.

"Not too many people have problems fitting in, I don't think."

New York general manager Brian Cashman shot down a report from the Dominican Republic that the club would sign Ramirez to a three-year, $75 million contract this week.

"We've had some free personalities through the years," Jeter said. "David Wells was his own person, [Jason] Giambi was his own person, [and] Johnny [Damon is] his own person. There's a lot of different personalities that play on our team.

"It's just when you're out on the field, you're trying to accomplish one thing, and we welcome people with their own personalities."

Tex>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Manny

I'd much rather have a great power and defensive 1B then one of the worst defenders and laziest players in the game. I highly doubt Manny will be motivated night in and night out for those 3 years. Besides we need to get rid of the old players and get bring it a lot more younger guys.

Unless the Yanks offer more than the Red Sox, I doubt we get him. It'd be nice, but we've yet to make an offer.

Honestly I think we need to get Tex to be able to surpass the Red Sox in the division. I'm not sold on Tampa quite yet and the Sox have some great hitters in that lineup to go along with solid pitching. We're getting the pitching taken care of pretty well but we still need a couple good position players before we can overtake them.

We already locked up the division with the CC and Burnett signing, IMO. I don't think the Sox will get Teixeira because there's talks about them going all out for Mauer in 2010. They COULD keep Lowell for another year and not worry about Tex. If we sign Manny, we'll have better bats and a better pitching staff (including the bullpen) than the Sox.

Maybe the Yankees will just sign Tex and Manny. Why not sign Lowe too while you are at it? Come on.. whats another $280 million to a team that spent $245 million for 2 pitchers? I am pretty sure that would get you in the playoffs anyway. LOL

Attend your teams games and maybe one day you'll be like the Yankees.

LOL Now there is a brillant statement. The Giants could sell out every game and still not be able to spend like the Yankees. They have a HUGE local tv and radio market advantage over the other teams. They arent doing anything illegal obviously and can spend whatever they want under the rules set up by baseball. So.. as I said.. just go spend another 1/2 billion dollars and guarantee your playoff spot.

LOL!

So right now, we're looking at....

1) Johnny Damon
2) Derek Jeter
3) Alex Rodriguez
4) Mark Teixiera
5) Xavier Nady
6) Jorge Posada
7) Hideki Matsui
8) Robinson Cano
9) Brett Gardner????
Now I can say we are the division favorites.
The Yankees now have the 4 highest paid players in baseball. A-Rod, Jeter, Sabathia, & Teixiera.

With CC pitching . Do hear that faint sound in the distance, that's the Redsux nation crying.

Just heard the deal it's for 8 years for $180 mil.

its like playing madden franchise without salary cap and signing whoever you want. lmao. so dumb.
I really don't care about the Yanks signing everyone; at least, I don't fault them for it. They're playing by the rules baseball has set up. It's baseball's fault, not their fault.

That said, it's going to be absolutely hilarious when the Rays and their teeny-weeny payroll finish with a better record than the Yankees.

You know what sucks even further, we have 86 mil. coming off the payroll this season and 30 mil. coming off next season which means we don't have to pay the luxury tax next season.
