That is a ton, especially if he's only going to DH and play OF occasionally. If they do bring him in they gotta trade Matsui (f**k that I love Matsui, can't trade him) or Nady (f**k that he, I think he's perfect for the Yanks). I'd rather bring in Teixeira instead, we gotta think long-term.

I think we should try to trade Damon. Yes, he bats close or at .300 but he's a huge liabilty with his weak arm in the outfield. And I agree if we do sign Manny then we have to trade Matsui, because Matsui can't play defense anymore and he is our DH for the moment, unless of course we bring in Manny.
We have to start thinking about the future, and signing a bunch of guys in the mid to late 30's is not working. That's why I believe we should go after Tex, a young 27 or 28 yr old with power and good defense.

"I don't know him personally, with the exception of playing against him and on some All-Star teams," Jeter said. "I know he's had a lot of success everywhere he's gone, and it seems his teams have done been pretty good.
"Not too many people have problems fitting in, I don't think."

I'd much rather have a great power and defensive 1B then one of the worst defenders and laziest players in the game. I highly doubt Manny will be motivated night in and night out for those 3 years. Besides we need to get rid of the old players and get bring it a lot more younger guys.

Unless the Yanks offer more than the Red Sox, I doubt we get him. It'd be nice, but we've yet to make an offer.
