David Lombardi called out connor colby, so you know that guy is on his way out
He did play like donkey ballz this preseason game, but i'll still give him a few weeks to get into shape before truly judging him.

Yikes. That sounds like practice squad. It happened to McKivitz though. Maybe it wakes him up.
Dieter said Collins was bad again today. Another day of getting blown 5-yards back.

Also, James Thompson had another strong day. We're quickly arriving at the point that not only will Thompson make the team; he could be in the mix for the starting nose.

I'm really hoping he's just getting back into shape but not a good sign. he might not start hitting his stride until half way through the season - which sucks. He got better as last year went on. He's also probably just rusty and not in shape cause his surgery. I'm really rooting for him but not expecting much early one, pretty concerning as he's a projected starter.

Thompson flashed more in the preseason game, but Eason was more impressive in the tape of the early reps. I'd honestly not be opposed to keeping both, and if Collins still looks like ass by the end of camp, cut bait or find a trade partner.

Osa
West
Eason
Halton

These guys should be locks. I doubt we keep 6 DTs...

And I highly doubt they cut or trade Collins. Because no team is going to give you more than a a 5th at best.

So unfortunately just based on his draft position he might get to stay even if he doesn't look good and we could lose out on a good player like Thompson

I'm rooting for Collins to put it together, hopefully it's just a little rust. But I'd be lying if I wasn't majorly concerned with his start to this camp, especially considering a lot of his issues are footwork related. He should not be getting outplayed by two UDFAs. If he were to continue looking like this bad by the end of the PS, I'd take the fifth and cut our losses. We'll see though, lots of camp to go.
PFF grades were in line with what we all could watch during the game:

- Bryson Eason (21 snaps): 77.3. Highest grade among 49ers defensive players
- Gracen Halton (30 snaps): 73.6 and the 49ers' highest-graded run defender (75.0) with 4 stops
- James Thompson Jr. (22 snaps) earned the best pass-rush grade (70.5) and ended with 0,5 sacks and 3 tackles (couldn't find his overall grade not having a PFF-sub)

While Alfred Collins ended with the second worst grade of all the 49ers players with an underwhelming 28.2 in 18 snaps.

It's only the first pre-season game but if the performances continue these trends the next 2 preseason games with Halton and the 2 UDFAs shining while Collins plays like ass, the 49ers could face a huge dilemma, as pointed in other posts above, to select the 53

How can you possibly score that low?. Was bro tripping trying to run onto the field??😳😆
Playing against 1st stringers vs 2nd or 3rd stringers makes a difference.
Video Breakdown of DTs:

SO - Collins took a while to get going last year as well, but seemed to get better all camp. He was pretty low graded over the season tho - did his game improve as the season went on?

The video above is not very favorable for Collins on the fundamentals. But he was playing the 1s. Hope it gets better.
Same position as last year. Coming off an injury, getting back in shape and so on. He will improve significantly like last year imo. He had some great games starting with the Rams game. I believe he is on the same trajectory. If not, we keep him at least another year due to his draft position and potential

What are you referring to? Kyle Posey breaks down how Eason, Thompson, and Collins looked against the same comp. I'd start there.
