Right? Thought the announcer said "Halton beat the highest paid guard in the league" while it does make a difference Collins is a 2nd round pick slotted to start along Osa. 1st stringers are the level of competition he's expected to face not to mention a lot of this is vanilla play calls in preseason, wait till they start running more complicated traps, options, misdirection and sweeps

Hope he isn't another big softee...

I give Collins some grace given that he battled last year through a serious enough injury which caused him to rehab most of the offseason…and likely lead to some growing pains here.

The fact that he's praised by the coaches and players in that locker room gives me hope that he can get in shape and show us he was worth that selection. Sooner would be better…

No excuses that he played so terrible...can't believe we keep wasting high picks on Dline guys that are outperformed by random FAs or require us to sign more vet FAs. Need to completely stop drafting Dline in the first rounds unless of course we have a generational obvious talent available (like Bosa).
2017: 1st rd: Thomas (Bust)
2019: 1st rd: Bosa (Elite, generational talent, thank god Cards are a poverty franchise that picked a midget QB)
2020: 1st rd: Kinlaw (Bust)
2022: 2nd rd (First pick we had in draft): Jackson (Bust)
2025: 1st rd (Willams-injured, unlikely to do much this season), 2nd: Collins (looking bad)

Success rate with Dline in the first 3 rounds: 1/6
What's even worse with Dline is the 100% injury rate requiring surgery for every SINGLE one of the players listed above (Bosa x 2)

Just as a contrast OL drafted in the first three rounds since 2017:
McGlinchey, Banks, and Puni (All of them were starters pretty much as soon as they were drafted, Banks had a redshirt year, no major surgeries (ACL, quad tendon, Achilles, etc) that I can remember)

There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for this regime to ever draft another dline men again in the first 3 rounds unless there is a clear cut generational talent available. Draft Oline men earlier so we don't have random journeymen and low draft picks competing for a starting guard position.

Ya...but...when you're that damn big, you shouldn't get pushed around that easily. That was the discouraging part for me.

Guy being dominated by simple duos and also getting pushed back one-on-one by undersized interior olinemen four yards....

Not time to panic yet of course, but man...tough to watch.

Kinlaw had his moments but he wasn't this bad. That being said Kinlaws blow was/is far greater. We lost Buckner for him, Alfred has time to grow but damn I don't want to see him starting anytime soon if he plays like that

Pull up that 2023 NFCC vs the Eagles. In the most important game of the year, Kinlaw looked exactly like Collins. I'll never forget his play in that game. He was like that all year but that game stands out because it was so important.

It's been awhile maybe it's that I don't expect someone of Collins size to be pushed around like that making it amplified and awkward to watch. Kinlaw has been and is a starter for a few years now

Collins doesn't seem to fit what Raheem wants and he's having a bad, or actually, horrendous camp. Thompson, West, and really every other IDL is outplaying him.

He's just behind everyone in his level of football shape.
