He's been hurt, hasn't practiced much.

he should be fine.

Just like last year, remember he got off to a really slow start, mainly due to injury and conditioning concerns.People were questioning him and by midseason he was in great form. He also basically single-handedly won us the Rams game and he did very well the rest of the season.

I see the same pattern happening this year

I disagree. Collins & West are run stoppers. Osa & Halton are your penetrating 3 techs. You need both & you need depth. Collins & Osa should be starting & Halton & West should be rotating in to keep the DTs fresh. One (maybe 2) of Valdez, Thompson & Eason should round out the DT unit. My money is on both Thompson & Eason making it. Seems the Niners are high on both & were surprised they weren't drafted.

Collins 'should' be a run stopper on base downs but he's not there yet. CJ West is the better player to pair next to Osa.

Then I can see Halton coming in on our nickle D next to Osa.

Collins might be a situational, backup behind West this year, But that's ok. We need depth and will be rotating guys in and out

Pretty sh&tty debut. lowest graded dlineman. Hopefully he'll heal up. Going against starters I expect more from a second year guy whos supposed to have spent the entire off season in the weight room.

It was more a sign that you can never have enough pass rush and we found our greatest success when our D-line was at its strongest.

But aren't they looking for different things from Halton and Osa compared to Collins?

With that said, I'm glad they did take a DT. Guys need to see the league moves fast.

I feel like Collins has never looked consistently average even. He's a massive guy but plays like he's 6 inches shorter and 50 pounds lighter.

I don't know, I guess we'll see. This is also why I say if you hit on even 1 or 2 players in a draft class, it's a success. Collins was a 2nd rounder and seems he's not very good. You never know what you're getting (and it's not just us, draft is a crapshoot)
