I went back and watched his highlights from this season. Future is bright. He is a load as an edge-setter and inside rusher. Incredibly violent. Needs to work on his get-off, though. He's often the last DL to move after the ball is snapped.

This. Guy is definitely very violent & can throw guys around with ease. Excited for his future

Future star.

Stars get sacks...

Which is why I said future star and not current star or star :).

He developed well, especially in run defense and setting the edge. They've sacks will come, especially if they get another edge and he can slide inside on passing downs.
Mykel and Alfred will need to make big jumps in year 2 or else its going to be a tough year.

It's a bit unrealistic to expect a guy that missed almost half of his rookie season and offseason due to an ACL tear to make a big jump.

Eh, I don't think its unrealistic to expect more impact than he did his first year even coming off injury. Its unfortunate he did get injured since he was trending in the right direction before he went down.

Amazing how quick some fans are to say a player is a stud or a bust. Everyone should know that you can't judge a player on one season. Some colllege players just take longer to adjust. Williams came out after his junior year. They drafted him for his versatility and primarily for his run stopping. They also felt he could eventually become a decent pass rusher. He was improving every week even while he was being moved around the line.

I don't know if he'll ever be a top D lineman but at least give him a fair shot. We live in a world where everyone wants instant gratification and success.

You would think they would cut him some slack since Armstead took years to develop into the monster he became. He was so bad in his first year that we drafted Solomon Thomas as his replacement

It was Arik's 2nd season but point still stands. I remember webzone back then where people couldn't wait to cut Arik and Jimmie Ward since they kept getting injured.

Thankfully the team doesn't cut talented players who get injured.

Part of me thinks we were using him wrong, playing him inside and out. I wish they would let him concentrate on RE and stop moving him around. Let him work on stunts and pass rush moves from the outside.

Hard to tell with Bosa out. That impacted Williams and Huff a lot. Love to see mykel's production with a healthy Bosa.
