You should quit until the league decides to move on from this current script

Nothing but losing. What's the point? It messes with my mental health and makes me unproductive at work and I neglect other areas of my life during football season.
I don't know what it's like to be a winner. You older folks should appreciate your memories because some of us don't have those.

Every year is a new season. Everything and anything are a possibility. Don't lose hope, don't forget tomorrow is only a day away from your dreams coming true. Sorry, if I sound like a motivational speaker, but I live by this.

I totally stopped watching college sports all together. I now only watch Niner games and occasional Monday night or Thursday night if I have nothing else to do. I no longer do fantasy football as it is also time consuming. Though I am here now I am not on the Zone near as much as in the past. I am a long-term vet here that used to be on here tons all year long. I come on now some during games but not always a little right around the end of the year as coaching changes and free agency heat up and again for a few days around the draft. Reducing all of the above has been the best thing I ever did, and I am working on reducing even more this coming year. Remember this is just entertainment and really nothing more. I missed two niner games this year and really didn't miss it that much. At 57 I have other things I can be doing like family time, time outdoors, hunting, or travel. I used to watch all the sports including nascar. Now 15 to 17 niner games a handful of odd ball NFL games and about half the Arsenal Soccer games. I work 6 days a week so Sundays are my really free day and I just plan on watching less and enjoying life more. Our parents used to say the TV was terrible and it can be. I now say that the internet is the best and worst thing invented.
very similar boat as you.
My son is old enough now that I am an asst coach on his football team.
Mon/Thur nights we are at the field.
Sundays playing games.
I will catch some highlights late at night or watch the game on DVR.
It has been really refreshing spending energy on lifelong memories instead of yelling at a TV.

(I do have a guilty pleasure of checking out gameday thread in full meltdown once in a while though)

It's a shame to be this emotionally attached to this franchise.
I really feel bad for you younger fans because you have literally suffered through some horrible years. Those of us that were fortunate enough to live through the great years at least have those memories and great moments to remember (even if they are in grainy VHS quality lol). I feel bad for our kids the most though. Sitting through those years of disappointment and seeing this team lose 3 winnable Super Bowls, getting hopes up every year just to watch this team flame out.
It really is a possibility that this team doesn't win another championship in our lifetimes….thats a brutal thought.

That's what sport is though. It's highs and lows.
its enjoying the journey not just the destination.
if you can only get enjoyment out of following the team if they win a SB then it's going to be a relationship that is likely to disappoint you a lot more than make you happy.
Yesterday was a gut punch. Warner going down was confirmation, if we didn't already have it, that it's a 2nd successive season ruined by injury.
Not much you can do about it though. Dust yourself off and support those who don the red and gold for the rest of this season.
Niners are really well run and coached franchise so if they have no chance of winning another championship in our lifetime I'm not sure what chance most other less well run franchises have

Its best not to put all your happiness with winning a Superbowl while watching 49ers football.
Its better to find players on the 49ers that give you joy to watch and see them succeed in any way they can. That way you can always find some joy during the season even if you don't win the SuperBowl. Of course winning a Superbowl would be great, but I really doubt we will get one anytime soon.
I'm hoping Purdy is the one that can find a lot of success here as I do enjoy watching his play and his attitude when it comes to football. So it would be nice to have a QB that will be here a long time.

Seriously considering it and have been seriously considering it for the past couple weeks and to an extent years.
There's just no point in putting myself through this anymore. I've been waiting patiently for 20 years for this team to win a championship in my lifetime and they can't do it. Meanwhile all the enemies do it and make it look so easy every time. And on top of it all the fans of enemy teams I know IRL are so goddamn smug and annoying and don't actually know a damn thing about football or their own teams.
My wife gets really worried whenever I look even a little anxious about the team on Sundays and I can't put her through that anymore.
Seriously might hang it up after tonight. Call me a bandwagoner if you want. I sat through and followed the Tomsula/Chip years probably harder that any of my years of fandom. My mental health is much better spent on hobbies that make me happy and aren't essentially a drug leading to the inevitable crashing misery.
If you stay, more power to you!

When I start to get bummed, I think of it like owning stock. Nothing I do really matters to the valuation of the stock or the overall market. I only venture money I'm willing to lose, and winning in the market isn't going to materially change my life.
It's only entertainment and just not that serious. If you can't pull back a bit, then maybe you should bail.

Yes, all you thin-skinned women thinking about not being a fan anymore because you can't have what you want should absolutely stop being fans. You aren't made of the right material to be one.
