Right there with you brother!!!!

BOTTOM LINE... we have better players now than last year..

What blows me away is that when we traded for CMC last year, that was supposedly an all in move to win the SB that year. Even after falling short, we weee AGAIN able to make a bold move in signing Hargrave. I can't wait to see how the season unfolds, but there's still likely a chance we make another all in move at the trade deadline. Our SB window will last as long as our QB contracts, maybe a year or two beyond that. LFG!!!!

The guy is absolutely dominant. Almost all of his sacks are high-quality aka not manufactured, coverage or clean up. Guys don't get paid to record sacks; they get paid to dominate 1-on-1, and Hargraves is that dude. He's not just a one-tricky pony, either. Dude is powering, double-swiping, winning with speed, etc. This is a guy that can beat his man in many, many ways.

How would you compare him to Buck?

Well, Bucko was SUPER OVERRATED in this forum... The SHANANIGANS believed that Bucko was a SUPERSTAR when he was w/us.. then, he got traded and the SHANANIGANS had nothing to say..

Personally, as much as I like Bucko, this guy we got now is just better.. or at least been playing better but is in the process of becoming a real force in this league.

They're very different. Defo was tall and struggled with pad level; Hargraves is a stumpy dude that's going to be the lowest-man almost every time. Defo was a one-trick pony with his signature swim move, but he was really good at that one trick. Hagraves is going to win in multiple ways with with multiple moves.

As much as I loved Defo, I much prefer my interior DL be built like Hargrave. A lot of winning inside is maintaining leverage and being explosive and balanced through contact. It's not as as much a finesse game as it is on the edge.

He's a s**t brick house. Low to the ground big ass. He's explosive as all hell. Hargrave was my dream signing this FA. I didn't think twice about it though. Never thought this was a possibility 😈

Excellent post! Really enjoyed watching Buckner and the impact he had when he was here and now looking forward to seeing Hargrave on this DL.

Thanks, solid post. I'm not as educated with the nuances of D line play and technique, so it's great to get that insight in here. I imagine that pad level helps with the run stuffing as well, no?

Hero took the words out of my mouth. I'll add that Buckner is more physically imposing but Hargrave is more effective. Especially in this scheme.
Gotta love hearing this.

"Sometimes when you're trying to go get the money, you have to go to a team that's in a rebuild mode," Hargrave said. "But if you've got a chance to go to a team that was just in the NFC Championship, that's kind of an easy choice for me. So I was real happy about it.

He's gonna be a huge influence in the lockeroom. Everything that I've read about him so far is how he's such a high character guy and a great leader.
