But that is the point. For all of us Niners fans, if you think Joe Montana was GOAT (at least before Brady took the title), do you think QB wins and Rings are BS?

Rings aren't the same as wins. Also I look at Joe as the best because in the biggest games he shined the brightest.

I don't think you have a complete argument though. It would be hard for certain players to get rings and wins because his team was bad. I think QB wins and rings have to go hand and hand.

49ers may be rewriting the playbook on team building. People have an idea that you don't need RBs you can get someone undrafted or late round. The idea has truth to it. However the idea misses how transformative a HOF type RB can be for a club. CMC one of the great duel threat RBs in league history. Hard to find that undrafted. Much easier to simply trade for the known quantity.

Yeah I honestly think Christian's biggest impact has been as a receiver. You can see on tape how much attention he commands and in some instances soaks up defenders to him leaving other guys open.

Obviously as a runner he's had his moments as well but I never thought how much he'd bring to the passing game. It really made Jimmy take his game to another level before his injury. Before CMC got there you could see Jimmy get skittish in the pocket when things were breaking down. After CMC picked up the playbook skittish Jimmy was no longer to be found. He knew McCaffrey was out there as an outlet and his confidence level shot up big time.

But Brock has also done things Jimmy rarely did. I don't remember what the current numbers are but Brock in fewer games has a bunch more throwaways and I'm sure less sacks taken for sure.
Rings matter because that's the ultimate answer for smack talking with other teams that they can't refute.
BCB gonna have PTSD with this game...

this was a nine yard play, correct?
Yep. Some of the best QBs didn't win league MVP and/or a SB. But yeah when pulling up the stats with the exception of a few, the cream of the crop in QBs over a few decades have won at least one SB and an MVP. Maybe not at the same time, but they have both of those checked off. I'm looking forward to Brock Purdy's path. 49er football is once again exciting, he's doing the best given the situation he was put in and times are great to be a 49er fan. It's really quite awesome. My friends...one who is a die hard Cheese Head and the other a Bucs fan are seeing the beginning of the end....we're perhaps are witnessing the beginning of the beginning....HOW awesome is that!

Because the team ends up mattering. The player himself can't win it on his own. Why it's a team accomplishment.

There is definitely something to this...and it's something I bring up to people looking to ship off Trey Lance. Look at the two guys who have been the main guys with Brock out there - Kittle and CMC. Neither player was there with Lance.

The impact McCaffrey has had on the offense overall has been huge but to be fair to Brock we have seen snaps when Christian wasn't out there and he was still making plays so he's clearly got what it takes.

thl said it earlier, we haven't seen him carry the team or play with inferior talent but if we're lucky we'll never have to see that! Just need him to keep playing good football and hope the rest of the team stays healthy and does their part to keep the machine going.

Let's hope the Raiders game was the last kick in the butt that the team needed to bring out their best version for the playoffs.

Great post genus.

You gotta love how "unbiased" posters nitpick stupid stats to hate on the best QB play this team has seen in years.

Kinda like how people do that with the best coach the team has seen in years.
