I don't think the FO care much about what is said in the media. The FO goal is to make sure the message gets through that a player cannot force themselves off the team the way BA is trying to do. He may wind up in Washington but the 49ers are not going to make it easy, IMO.

The part that's missing is the 49ers wanted to get out of Aiyuk's contract, and they successfully accomplished that by voiding his guarantees. And while I agree that the 49ers don't need to care about what's happening in the media, having players and coaches answering questions about Aiyuk isn't productive and that's only going to increase as training camp and the preseason open. It's a potential distraction, just like leaking the news of his guarantees was in the stretch run of a season in which they were pursuing the 1 seed.

This is the way the 49ers did business before Kyle/John got here. It's Paraag (and Jed's) MO.

You may be right.
I'm not a huge fan of paraag even though it's hard to argue with a lot of results. He's a shrewd negotiator that typically gets a favorable team structure. There's a reason he has stayed at the position to long, and it's because he makes the yorks $$ (or saves them $$).

But he sure seems to be at the center of many contentious negotiations that perhaps cause unknowns to linger longer than they should

I mean, that's his job. You need a negotiator that's an a*****e sometimes.

He's very good at a lot of what he does. He still represents ownership's unwillingness to let football people have complete control, and his position and the team's structure prevents the team from having a true GM.

Jed and CO were pretty backed into a corner in 2017 when they hired Kyle and John, and their contracts spoke to that leverage. It's probably no accident over the next near decade we saw the most successful on-field product under York ownership. Regression in this context is exactly what we don't want as fans.

I can't watch that video right now, but what shade are you talking about? If it's from the articale earlier, as far as him saying Aiyuk looked good to go... that's not shade...imo..

I'm guessing there are antics/lockerroom stuff we don't know about. I'm not sure how you can see this and think anything else:

Kittle added, "But you guys have fun with that, I guess ... You have fun with all that comes with it."

When Kittle makes that comment regarding 'you guys have fun with that' - he's talking directly to the Commandos and their supposed interest in aiyuk. That and how he doesn't get his reactions after getting the contract.

The only other time I remember a super positive guy like Kittle making these type of statements, ironically was when another 49er quit on his team....Devondre Campbell or whatever his name was. That's how much of a garbage move that was.

Kinda hope the rest of the league ignores the turd, but someone will pick him up.

A part of me truly wonders if Aiyuk didn't understand the depth of the voiding of guarantees in July (maybe thinking it was some type of bonus he missed out on), and when the leak in October game out and he fully understood it, he walked. Or when he was approaching being able to play he asked niners to reinstate his guarantees and they didn't. Or maybe he was told they'd work back in some kind of guarantee?

In general you'd think it ridiculous for a player to not realize that but it doesn't seem like many people have been able to get through to Aiyuk.

Kittles reaction video above is even more damning than the text alone

My thing is you've got an experienced agent. At a minimum follow his advice. You get back on the field last year and show you can play. Then you've got more ammo to either get your money reinstated or get your contract traded or get released and earn another one. You're only young once so use your youth and your young body to earn that cash

Simple

I don't really care too much about who did this or who did that in this situation. TBH, I haven't really followed it much anyways for various reasons. Bottom line is, aiyuk quit on his teammates. That's on him. Too bad, because he was a good player.

And yes....Kittle's reaction is really all you need to know.

Yup you go to war with your teammates and especially in the midst of a playoff run. He quit on this locker room despite being paid taking up salary cap money that could've went to some of our guys. Aiyuk specifically said he'd be selfish and only look out for himself and his teammates get that now so guys are done with him. He's not worth the trouble

I'm not getting that read on it though I definitely think the front office saw an opportunity to get out of that contract especially after Aiyuk got hurt and jumped on it.

That's certainly not the type of shadiness I'd like our team to be doing but at the same time...Aiyuk gave them the opportunity to do it.

There are two situations at play here. Yes you have the potential questions around but you also have a player who is pushing his way out to his preferred destination.

I think every team out there including the Commanders wants Aiyuk to be made an example of(they obviously want him ASAP but they don't want that precedent set so their own guys can try to pull this stuff)

And in regards to the questions why would they increase? For the most part I doubt anyone serious will keep asking them about him once camp starts. Everyone knows he's not in the 49ers plans. If anyone is asking about him it's someone like Grant just looking to stir crap up.

I'd be surprised if they let him go without him showing up to force their hand simply because of the questions. Those types of distractions are a problem when the player is being relied on as part of your squad. Besides the answers are easy from Kyle/John "nothing has changed" and from the players "Haven't heard from him"
