Uh, he hasn't played NFL football in 1.5 years. He might be able to run on the knee etc. To say he's ready for the rigors of an NFL regular season game is a different story. I would be shocked and it would literally be unprecedented if he stepped in a starting role immediately after missing 1.5+ years.

If you look throughout history with players who have had this injury, it has yet to happen where they come back and are immediately what they were. It usually takes a full year back playing, then they get back into that range. By that point, Aiyuk will be 29.

Never say never in this life but it would be pretty crazy if he returned to what he was ever, let alone year 1

I understand that.. but um, he seemed to be ready to come back last year?

So he should be even more ready to come back now.

Besides, I meant more so he's in shape. Folks on here were saying he looked out of shape some time back... some felt he was hiding his movement because not being fully healed.

Once again I have 0 doubt that he's physically ready to come back and play.

The issue is...where is his head at?

I think if the commanders ease him back in he could be a good contributor for them in 2nd half of season.

If he can stay healthy, then the year after that he can more get back to what he was but also dependent on Washington OC.

Many people take shanahan for granted here and think if a player performa here he'll perform anywhere but it isn't true. Shannahan gets you favorable looks/matchups/etc. perhaps more than any other coach in the NFL.

How will Aiyuk look under a 1st time OC and a QB who took a major step back last year? Time will tell. I rarely if ever support players on the field once they leave the niners, so I won't say I wish Aiyuk well, but not because I begrudge how it all went down. But I do hope (as a person/human being) he gets back to a good spot (assuming he's in a "bad spot", and I don't know that for sure)
I hope he's ready to hear a lot of opposing defensive backs chirping about what an idiot he is.
Football s**t aside, I hope he isn't suffering from early CTE symptoms. I didn't think he was stupid.
Well we have better receivers now so I say let him rot on the reserve/left squad list until he has the nerve to pull up. Come on down and see these lil boys eye to eye whisker to whisker

yeah, same. Even if it isn't early CTE - I'd wager he is having some mental health issues. Think about these last two years:
- Brutal injury that destroys his knee
- gets feelings hurt because front office people had regrets about signing him
- brutal injury recover timeline. Which a lot of players talk about how hard it is mentally, especially cause sometimes they doubt if they can ever fully come back. which becomes an identity crisis.
- screws up tens of millions in guarantees

etc etc. that's a rough place to be mentally. sure he has money but he's so poor right now that money is all he has. that is even arguable. lol I think the team is going to come down on him after he's officially off the team. if you read into the nfl grievances - I think the team has a really strong case to recover about 75% of the signing bonus they gave him. that's my thought.

Well, we need ALL of the money we can get as we have bills to pay over here. Salary cap hits have been kicked down the road for aplenty of players so recouping some of that BA money would come in handy. Make an example of dude and help out our books

Love this one! Sounds like some 1800's Verbiage. While having the 6 shooter in holster.

They definitely will with how sensitive he appears to be. I see a disaster waiting to happen, if he's underperforming he might start pointing fingers knowing him. If I was a betting man I'd put some money on McLaurin having a 100 yard game. The 9ers are going to shut him out and Green will be all up in his sh*t. Knowing how botchy our safteys are I understand where Aiyuks confidence is coming from

When he talks about the "belt" he's not talking about one game vs the 9ers or that he's going to put a whoopin' on the 9er defense... he knows better than that... easy to take a one WR out, if a defense wants to..

It's more about the whole season.... the belt is basically, "I'm gonna ball out this season and you can't stop it." Now if everything goes right for him, it is very much possible... but this is football, anything can happen.

I can see that but I wouldn't put it past him if he means the ladder, in the context he's speaking it sounds like he's trying to punish us. Idk how him having a good season is punishing no one's going to miss him… I guess if he suddenly becomes Justin Jefferson you'd have some fans crying

Again I hope folks understand his issue isn't with his defense/teammates... or the fans (well not counting the POSs who celebrated his injury on his socials)

His issue is with the front office..... so yeah in his mind, if he balls out this season....all the media pushed narrative about him not knowing what he was doing...will be put into questuon....He'll get his say before the season starts.. be it podcast, or ESPN, Fox, Prime, NFL feature interview.

If he doesn't show up and report, the Niners do not have to pay him, but retain his rights under contract. If he had shown up at OTA's I'm pretty sure they'd have had to release him already. He would've had the chance to join the Commanders and had some time in OTA's to acclimate to the new team. He has zero leverage until he shows up and officially reports. That is why I am concerned about his psychological well being. I don't dislike Aiyuk, I just can't understand why he is acting so foolishly. I mean doesn't he have an agent to advise him? Or at least some friends who can tell him he is wrecking his own value acting all mental.
