Brandon Aiyuk is a Quitter! Pick #25, 2020 NFL Draft

Me everytime Aiyuk post more worthless insults and rants...

So the next time Aiyuk is in negotiations with a team I guess they won't have to give him any money up front. No accelerated bonuses. Nothing up front BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE STUPID. I have never heard a player in any profession call a team stupid for paying him millions up front. I suspect I will never hear that again from a player. So the 49ers are dumb for paying you $50 million up front but you pissed away the other $70 million BA so what does that make you???

Maybe I'm not giving BA enough credit. Maybe he wants to play on incentive deals. He wants to earn everything he gets from here on out??? Yeah probably not.

I can't put BA in the TO/AB/Moss class because those players although quit on their teams at times or were just a divisive locker room presence, those players are head and shoulders above Aiyuk when it comes to production.

I'm putting BA in the Albert Haynesworth class. Just a big headed, whiny, mentally soft, b****. Keep posting bro. At this point it's the only way you will stay relevant but after about a week nobody will give a crap and they'll be onto the next dumpster fire.

This guy must have the IQ of a cucumber. He calls the team that paid him a lot of money, stupid. Which GM in their right mind is going to offer him any significant amount of money after those comments?

I get the feeling that the leaks to the media might be coming from someone else (not John's office)... maybe Paraag? (salary cap Manager Jeff Diamond reports to him).... or Kyle?

Diamond and Paraag probably are the ones who didn't want to sign Aiyuk to an extention. And were probably the ones who used Aiyuk slipping up in the offseason, as an opening to quickly get money back.

Who knows if Kyle and John were 100% for that initially.. but it happened and I'm sure they went forward as a team.

But that late season media leak happened.... and all that Aiyuk s**t got put into the light.. (remember Aiyuk was not out in the media that whole time.. wasn't posting cryptic stuff on social media either).. it seemed like what was done was done. And Aiyuk and the Front Office were just looking forward to the offseason.... and Kyle and the team were focused on what was in front of them on the field. Sure they were asked about Aiyuk, but Kyle and John just said they hope he can be ready soon or other coach speak stuff.... but after the leak happened, then Kyle was a little more honest about not talking to him since before the season.

And it has got ugly since.

What I'm curious about is why is Aiyuk on social media... did something else happen? Did he expect to be cut on June 1st? Maybe he (through his agent) got the impression that he would be released by now? but something changed from the 9ers perspective....and so he's doing his thing as well (like he did during his contract negotiations).

Eventually we'll get more info..

I really don't think this is some Game of Thrones intrigue.

Every single aspect of this whole mess is easily explained by Aiyuk acting like a spoiled, petulant child. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck... maybe we can just call it a duck?

If the agent is good at his job, why would either one of them need to fire the agent? Why does it need to be a leak and palace intrigue when the most likely explanation is that it was a very well considered public disclosure? I don't even think it has gotten ugly. This isn't a contract holdout by a superstar that mires a team in uncertainty. This is a toddler throwing a tantrum in a grocery store because he didn't get candy. If you are in his proximity it is loud and annoying.

Aiyuk's account has been sent to collections. The 49ers as a football team have moved on.

100%. The conversations around Aiyuk are almost entirely about money, not about losing a superstar performer. Even pre-injury the forum was pretty split on the "superstar performer" part.

Aiyuk gets coverage since he was injured than he ever did when he was playing. 49er Hall of Shame candidate.

He's off to a great start as a social media distraction. He should start selling ads.

He is done. I don't think he's gonna play again. The only videos he has posted are crying victim videos. Any other player coming off a major injury wanting to play is posting videos of hard work to get back on the field. Where's his workout videos? I think the knee is cooked and he knows it.

I think your right. That severe of an injury usually takes a step or two away from a player. Even the best ever Jerry Rice lost a little and that guy was a freak of nature. He will come back, push it too hard, trying to prove himself and be out of the league next season. Sad I liked the guy too.

That's exactly what is going to happen when he's released/traded. The dead cap charges the team currently faces are from bonus money (cash) that was paid up front but spread over the life of the contract for cap purposes.

So the guaranteed money we took away lowers the cap hit? Thats what I'm implying, I feel we shouldn't even have a cap hit given that he's intentionally trying to play for another team

Yes.

You might feel they shouldn't take a cap hit but teams don't get to pay players and not have it count against their cap. The most basic way to understand this is they paid him a lot of money for 2024 and 2025 and had much smaller cap hits for those seasons than what they actually paid.

Understood. They have cap charges going forward (split over this season and next), once he's released or traded, because of the money they paid him for 2024 and 25.
