Yeah I dont see JJ returning. His behavior this offseason was already leaning towards Aiyuk/Deebo diva territory.

Interesting revelations from Coach during today's news conference.
1. This contract stuff with BA took place in JULY. It's now late NOVEMBER. Nobody on the team or in the FO said a word about this.
2. The 49ers are very, very, very good at not letting juicy tidbits leak out here and there.
3. So why did it leak yesterday? My guess, and it's just a guess, is that the 49ers decided it was time to leak it out.
4. WHY? And WHY NOW?

#1 and #2 are almost unheard of these days. Speaks well of the organization.

#3 and #4 are really interesting. On the page (1458) after your post, someone posted a snippet of what appears to be a current interview where Aiyuk says something suggesting the 49ers don't want him. Just a snippet without context, but very weird.

one read is that Aiyuk wants out of SF and is trying to claim that the 49ers have created some sort of hostile workplace or conspiracy and have violated the contract. Effectively in the early stages of the NFL version of suing for breach-of-contract in order to both get paid and get out. The organization could be publicly establishing that they want Aiyuk and there is no hostility from their end, but that Aiyuk may actually be in breach of his contract.

I really suspect this is all positioning to determine how much Aiyuk gets paid when he leaves.

Lynch and Shannahan seem to be straight shooters who treat people respectfully (#1 and #2 fit into that). Aiyuk seems to be the problem. Getting $25 million voided is obviously a red flag the size of California. I hope he is a big enough fool to get his whole contract voided. The guy is bad news.

edit: I really meant how much it costs to part ways with Aiyuk. No idea how this works in the NFL, but could be positioning to try to reduce the dead money hit?

Interesting angle but Aiyuk didn't fight it with the NFLPA and he's not going after his contract for 2026. He could have showed up to rehab and meetings for the $26M and that's much easier than going to court and tarnishing your name.

49ers could be looking to claw back some additional money from Aiyuk's contract. Reducing the dead cap hit.
Maybe we just don't know enough about what he is going through. Maybe he is having troubles that are not the world's business… I don't know how you get into a situation where your not contesting the voided contract if it's a dispute over football related business. Plus he is injured and rehabbing so it's not playing time or touches or offense scheme… the kid must have gotten himself into some serious trouble or is just seriously troubled. Hope he figures a way through it.

Well the San Jose merc story made my post void. It's all about his contract…. Wow. Just wow.
After Aiyuk is released, when he signs with another team does it have any impact on the 49ers compensatory picks equation?

Cut players don't count in the compensatory formula.

That's dedication to winning. The 49ers could learn something from him.

The Niners are not contenders? Even with all the injuries the team has they are still 7-4.

What I do find weird is that BA during his holdout kept talking that they told him they do not want him, then he wanted a trade, then he still signs a contract, gets injured, and misses mandatory meetings.
Seems as if he started drinfting towards Antonio Brown status.

So how are the Commanders—who Aiyuk apparently wanted to play so badly for—doing?

Dedication to winning? Just by what I'm seeing at this point, Aiyuk is basically pulling a De'Vondre Campbell in a sense and quit on his team and teammates.
Saw this and got a laugh

I mean this is clearly a troll post lol
lol wtf this situation is so weird. Garafolo says BA could still be a Niner next year… it seems like Shanny is pushing to repair the situation while someone in the front office wants BA gone. I feel like this s**t could get ugly between head coach and front office... Another Harbaugh/Paraag situation brewing?

I think one where someone is in despair and then all of a sudden something happens to make them joyous would also be appropriate.

I wanted Lamb over Aiyuk. He's a diva too but dangit.. He still produces.. And probably wouldn't have been so unhappy here.
