I'm not trading Aiyuk for pennies on the dollar. You had the tough negotiations last offseason that hurt us and he's signed. You paid him for a reason.
He's easily our best WR in years and even when rusty he was key to helping our offense. Guys come back from injuries all the time. He's only 26 years old with modern science and rehab methods.
You don't leave the team devoid of talent when this WR class isn't even very good. Would be a super reactionary and bad move to trade him.
He's a huge diva coming off a serious injury and may never be the same and will probably never come remotely close to living up to his contract the bad move was not moving on from him last year.
I don't get the huge diva thing. When did we have any problems with BA before the contract stuff last year? He never complained about not getting the ball enough. He never causes issues off the field. He blocked his ass off and he always ran his routes without being lazy.
People need to disassociate the contract stuff with the rest of what he's done for us. I get it, it's hard to see a guy who talked all that "I'm a Lambo/Ferrari" talk and seeing him play like a Corolla then get into an accident….
Lots of uncertainty with a serious injury but if you put the contract and injury aside and just look at the film you see a guy who is right up there with some of the best in the game in route running, blocking and playing the overall game. On a team that would feed him the ball 150+ times a season he's putting up killer numbers.
You see a guy benefiting from the talent around him, I see a guy who isn't producing as much cuz of that talent and our ability to spread the ball around. I also see a guy who impacts coverage when he's on the field that isn't there with JJ and Kittle alone.
I see an above average player at best that's pretty low on the totem pole to defensive coordinators when game planning against the 49ers.
