Yeah, I agree with all of that. The one caveat I would suggest is that the best way to get the fair deal done now is to quit teasing him with the chance at a better deal by continuing to negotiate with him and other teams. Tell him in no uncertain terms we're done negotiating.

Myself and so many others said this ages ago. I'll never understand why entities negotiaite in this fashion. Sure, if there is the distinct possibility the other party may walk away, think deeply about such actions. But that's not the case here. BA can't do anything other than quit the NFL. I mean, sure, he can play his six games and get "injured," but this isn't a long term strategy. You think it wouldn't be obvious? You think future teams are going to lay out the red carpet for such a player? BA isn't good enough for that to be an option.

Same. I've always felt that if he goes anywhere it'd be Washington and would result in Luke McCaffrey coming to the 49ers.

I'd definitely take McLaurin, a 2nd and a 5th at this point.

I've felt McLaurin was the best compromise. Hopefully Adam Peters and Lynch can work something out.

Absolutely

We aren't going to see a deal until Sunday or Monday. The 49ers are holding back their best and final offer until then. If they give it now, Aiyuk's team will sit on it and ask for more. The absolute deadline for him to be a part of the 49ers is this upcoming weekend. If he doesn't accept the final offer he will have to accept a trade + sign or play on the 5th year or hold out. Or the 49ers will trade him for pennies on the dollar as a 1 year rental to whoever wants him.

Personally I hope the 49ers take the trade off the table right now unless Pittsburgh or another team want to get serious. This talk of 2nd round + late round picks is a damn joke for a top 10 WR.

Washington just moved a guy who never hit 600 yards for a 3rd and late round picks. If Aiyuk wants to hurt the team and decides to sit out then let him sit. Either he caves and we get the deal done or you can move him at the trade deadline and likely get a desperate team willing to give up a lot more. It may not even be a situation of Aiyuk having to approve the deal.

All I know is if you're not going to have the guy play for you this year don't take a weak trade offer to appease the player and hurt yourselves long term.

I like Aiyuk but F him if he thinks he's more important than the team.

I agree, there should be a deadline. both sides might have one

I agree with the rest, but the bolded so much. I've read others state the 49ers should just take whatever they can get, because something is better than nothing. While that's true, in a vacuum, there are other considerations, so I wholeheartedly disagree with that suggestion.

I'd rather the 49ers got nothing out of this deal than appease an overly demanding player. That s**t will only bite you in the ass come the next overly demanding player. At some point, you have to take a stand, and accept the consequences, knowing the future benefits are worth the short term negatives.

Haha did the same s**t for a Pittsburgh post too.
Aiyuk is a weird ass dude. At this rate i hope the front office pulls an Al Daivis and Marcus Allen's his ass

I guess we're back to him being gone again? This cycle has more flare ups than my herpes on a hot summer day. I wonder who it will be next offseason

If this happens again with Purdy next year then I'm done with Marathe. I have no clue why this fanbase worships him so much. He was mostly to blame for the Baalke/Harbaugh leaking fiasco and now he keeps procrastinating every single offseason and it's costing us dearly. We have more than enough data to know that waiting until the last minute to extend stars is a bad move
