Also no he is in the market. He's due for an extension, his agent and him use other contracts to gauge their worth…he has absolutely no reason to sign below what the market is saying his worth is. He's clearly NOT all about the money because he did in fact say no to that NE contract.

Look man you can be frustrated with how much players make…imo that's a massive waste of time because you can't change it. This "business" is booming and we're all part of making it happen. $13B last yr and that s**t is going up.

There's no tribalism in what I'm saying. Im just telling ya that's how capitalism and things like the NFL roll.

can't wait for next yr when Brock isn't taking a "hometown" discount

Capitalism requires an environment where contracts are enforceable. We have one. Sign the offer or play it out, as it sure looks like we can't get fair compensation.

Old Jimmy had some all-pro's under his belt, right? They signed him after 3 yrs of playing here, right?

Only time I had real issues with Jimmy's contract was when he had zero gtd cash left and they could have moved off him and saved like $25M. I still think the smart move was to tag him after those 5 games and go from there vs making him the highest player in the NFL.

turns out I was right 🐸 ☕️

Or the 3rd option is he doesn't have to play until the last possible moment to accrue a season. that's his right per the union he's part of

Capitalism is all about having a free market that determines worth. That s**t can change with the market…ya'll remember beanie babies lol?

The funny thing is contracts only matter in the NFL based on the gtd money involved. Once that s**t is gone then that contract isn't worth much. Players will hold out and owners will cut you…works both ways.

That third option is actually a right in playing it out, and BA must consider he will surely be tagged after that and traded when Everyone has more draft picks usable in the current year and tradable players. That's better for us. He must weigh that against signing and getting paid now, which sure seems the only rational option to me.

Yeah man that's totally in the cards for him. Let me be clear I don't think he should hold out and playing football will make him more money than not playing football.

End of the day the best scenario is getting a fair deal done now. Trading him at this point seems like a desperation move on SF's part that would yield the least amount of compensation. I really don't see the point. Let him holdout, you've already setup the cap and him being on the team. They're not getting a comparable player and unknown draft picks arent worth as much right now. Whatever, he sits at home and loses cash. That's on him and his right.

SF has to realize they don't have to win every single contract that sign. BA has to understand where can get paid a lot and have the most success. I think something gets done by Labor Day weekend.

Hes like the whiny kid growing up who takes all his marbles and goes home when he doesn't get his way. Boo hoo BA. Grow up, my man, grow up. It ain't all about you…

I'll still root for him to do well since it matters to the team. On the other hand, I won't care if they trade him next year instead of Deebo. Both have been holdouts but Aiyuk's is different. He's under contract and is jerking the team around at this point. He's running out of options and time. Get this done.
It sounds as if the hang up is the amount of guaranteed money on the 4th year of the contract. If I'm not mistaken, these contacts are usually back loaded and the last year is voidable by the team. If this is the case, it would seem that all other teams would structure a similar deal, right?

if that's the case, other teams will lose interest FAST as the juice simply ain't worth the squeeze as they say.

i say let him sit until he comes to his senses. If he wants to play football on a good offer, on a good team, he knows where to find us..

Same. I've always felt that if he goes anywhere it'd be Washington and would result in Luke McCaffrey coming to the 49ers.

Lol I got a job at Google, but I wanna quit to go work at McDonalds because my best friend is there

that's basically what Aiyuk would be saying

Except they're two NFL teams and McDonalds would be paying me more than Google? I don't get the metaphor

The 49ers are currently considered one of the best organizations to play for while Washington is easily one of the worse and have been for some time(maybe it changes with Dan Snyder gone), even their stadium is a dumpster fire. I mean, it's not that complex

I mean if he wants a lot of GTD $ in the last yr of his deal…well good luck with that. Even Bosa's deal isn't setup like that.

If he was sent to Washington anything short of McLaurin back isn't fair value in my mind.
We aren't going to see a deal until Sunday or Monday. The 49ers are holding back their best and final offer until then. If they give it now, Aiyuk's team will sit on it and ask for more. The absolute deadline for him to be a part of the 49ers is this upcoming weekend. If he doesn't accept the final offer he will have to accept a trade + sign or play on the 5th year or hold out. Or the 49ers will trade him for pennies on the dollar as a 1 year rental to whoever wants him.

I have always thought even before training camp that he would hold out and the deal would get done after the last preseason game and before the first game of the season. He wants the best deal he can possibly get, so he is going to hold off hoping a better offer comes. But he will not want to holdout into the season because he risks way to much. Like our team performing well without him or holding out longer or for next year and not getting near as much money. Maybe I am wrong and he is a complete idiot but I think it is going to get done. It is in his best interest to sign our best offer before the start of the season.

Yeah, I agree with all of that. The one caveat I would suggest is that the best way to get the fair deal done now is to quit teasing him with the chance at a better deal by continuing to negotiate with him and other teams. Tell him in no uncertain terms we're done negotiating.

I think I agree with ya, humor is also a good tension breaker but yeah, I think you are probably right. Shanny doesn't appear worried or too concerned.
