Yeah, he's not flashy, but he soaks up double teams and keeps the middle plugged. Losing him last year meant it was open season up the middle.

Huh? Kevin Givens is awful at taking on double teams.

Givens gets ran over against the run.

Yeah, Givens is the typical penetrating 3-technique. He can shoot gaps, get in the backfield and create a little chaos, but if he has to anchor down even against base blocks, he can struggle at times. Dude turns into a human sled for offensive lineman on double teams.

Yeah BUT!!

PFF will tell you that he's 100% best DT when going up against our O line in practice... sometimes even when triple and quadruple teamed

Not a game not a game, talking bout PRACTICE!

F*** me bruh F*** me!!

This dude hasn't even played a snap all year, has he even played in preseason or participated training camp?! How do they expect him to just suddenly be good in relieving anyone... should have just brought up Valdez or Anderson

Yeah.. I'm more excited about him helping the pass rush rotation inside and keeping teammates fresher.

I have to eat a teeny bit of crow... he didn't take on any double teams, but (surprisingly) had a couple of nice pressures tonight

Props to you for admitting it.

bruh, you want to see an example of a human sled, see clip 2. I think it's time to give Valdez a shot. Givens doesn't bring enough to the table to continue getting opps.

where is the cj west double team?

givens is a pass rusher not a run stopper. hes helped us.

In the 2nd clip next to CJ West.

Givens is hardly a pass rusher, and a complete liability as a run defender. All interior defenders must be able to defend the run in this defense because most of them come off the field on rush downs. The cons outweigh the pros with Givens by a wide margin. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a healthy scratch once Jordan Elliott* is healthy.

While I am not the biggest believer in PPF grades they do give you a little idea how a guy played and Davis, Givens and Collins got some of the worst grades ever. Hence we allowed nearly 7 yards a carry. West graded out the best of the DTs but still needs improvement

Maybe they shouldn't have him try to take on two DTs He'd probably do better one on one with the OT

If Elliot was available, Givens would've been a healthy scratch again for the 4th / 5th game in a row... West already passed him up

Never seen Anderson (ever) get pushed around like Givens. We've yet to see what Valdez can do, but I don't think he'd be a "human sled"

Givens is a JAG. UDFA that had lasted 7 seasons, bottom of the roster guy. Probably practices very well and coaches must love him if they've never let him leave the building in 7 years. Future D line coach.
