What happened to possibly signing Cam Jordan from the Saints? Joey Bosa pricetag is out of range. Lynch needs to find some depth pieces elsewhere like Sample to round out this group.
Do not waste a 1st/2nd round on an edge that will likely be injured at some point.

Last year's Rookies DT C.J. West & DT Alfred Collins Sacks on QB Philip Rivers - Week 16 @ Indianapolis Colts - 49ers - 2025 - #49ers #FTTB pic.twitter.com/DHQUs2Axyg

If these two make big leaps in year 2 our Dline might be scary along with Osa.

I think they will, they showed that they have the ability. I'm hoping that a year in the weight room and more experience and technique will make them much better not to mention more depth. Osa will be the starter inside, so one of them (Collins/West) if not both will be rotating anyway.

Im not going to lie I am really liking our DL going into this year
Collins and West are our main run stuffers up the middle
Osa and Halton will be our pass rushers up the middle
Bosa Williams and White are going to be the main base down EDGE
Height will be our DPR
I really like this group and we ill have a pretty strong DL rotation to keep everyone fresh

This unit will be the best of the entire team (LBs a close 2nd)
They could be scary good and elite (imo) with minimal injuries

Really like this DL post-draft from a pass rushing standpoint. Yet still concerned about it consistently being able to stop the run right up the gut. Was hoping they would take at #33 the Big Ten DL of the Year last year, Kayden McDonald, who is a force in the middle and stopping the run is his specialty. Watched Ohio State whenever I could last year...he was constantly making plays as a disruptor in the middle of their line. And, he's only 21 with room to improve in both run stopping & pass rushing. The Texans drafted him to add to their already formidable D.
Hoping Collins & West are up to the task as run stoppers in the middle as they both continue to develop at the NFL level. Liked what they showed last year for the most part. Niners also brought in a couple of UDFAs and hopefully one of them can contribute.

It's going to be more difficult to run up the middle with a 5-man front, especially if Morris runs his traditional tite fronts. Then it becomes significantly harder to run the ball up the middle.

I wish we had Demeco back as DC. I think we would have beat KC in the Superbowl if we had him vs Wilks.

Good point and thank you for pointing that out - the Morris factor with the D scheming he brings. Feeling a little better about it now to be honest. Haven't followed Morris to closely during his NFL coaching career to know about the fronts he runs and what you mention makes sense towards helping stop the run up the middle.
Just saw the talented McDonald dropping and all of a sudden he's there at #33. Was having visions of him adding his interior playmaking skills to this DL.

Agreed! Ryans was one of the better DCs this team has had in many years IMO. The players, in addition to performing well in his scheme, really seemed to enjoy and get fired up playing for him.

this is why I had no concerns about the run defense going into the draft. The base wide 9 just flat out sucks at stopping the run. It puts so much pressure on your personnel to be good.Tite fronts are designed to shut down inside runs. You won't see teams spamming duo and inside zone anymore. I have no idea where our guys will line up, but it'll look like this.

This is great and makes sense! Getting fired up already seeing Morris implement it here and how guys will be lined up.
Yeah, with the base wide 9 you seem to always have concerns stopping the run - especially runs up the middle. Unless you have some playmaking beast(s) at DT that can make plays consistently playing in it (and any scheme for that matter).
Thanks again and feeling better about it already.
