AA actually played pretty well tonight. I'm not happy he was a first rounder but he is not trash. He is making contributions, especially against the run. The real problem is the overall lack of discipline on defense. There are simply far too many blown coverages and confusion. Guys look like they have no idea what they are doing. Coaching issue? Yes!

Sherman disagrees with you. He's played in this scheme his entire career. Young guys playin around him are screwing up too much. Warner admitted he's made the wrong defensive call on the field at times tonight, too.

You....are absolutely correct, sir! That call in the first half on the fumble was just a travesty. Even if the Sherman call was correct, was it blatant? My beef is this....if you are an NFL official, you make the obvious calls and leave the rest. The refs should be officiating and not determining the outcome of games with borderline calls. Period.

Yes....I saw that late this evening... Well....the question then becomes....why is this still happening week after week? And the second question becomes...why didn't the team get a few veterans in the off season to help these younger guys.

The most disappointing thing this season is seeing that Witherspoon Colbert and Tartt aren't good enough. We knew they had no edge rushers but seeing the struggles in the defensive backfield we thought had been at least partially resolved by these three players has been the worst part of this season, IMO, aside from losing Jimmy and Jet. But at least with Jimmy and Jet we expect them back next year and playing well. With the DB/S situation we may need to invest even more draft and free agent capital we didn't expect.

Great post, captveg... I couldn't have said it any better. The questions?....are these guys not as talented as we thought?....or, are they not being coached well enough to reach their potential? I can say this...these guys appear to have the physical attributes to be good players but man...they have been making far too many mental errors...

Because their goal isn't to win the Super Bowl this year. It's to continue to install the system to win several Super Bowls in the future 2020s. Going hog wild in free agency at this early stage of the install just wasn't in the cards. That said, they made selective moves for vets the past two offseasons, but mostly not on defense aside from Smith and Sherman. They expected Tartt, Colbert and Witherspoon to be better this year and their regression is where they've been hurt the most this season aside from edge rusher (which they knowingly punted on to the 2019 offseason) and the injuries on offense. I expect them to bring in a vet or two for the CB/S spots this offseason now that they know Tartt, Colbert and Witherspoon are not keeping pace as expected. But for the most part they will build through the draft. I expect an edge rusher with the #1 pick, but then 2-4 CB/S in the draft after that.

I hear ya. They thought there was more talent in that secondary. At this point though, an average veteran CB would be a huge upgrade. Gonna have a high pick though, the talent will be available, but the FO has got to get it right.

I really find it laughable that people are still doom and gloom on this forum. They took the Packers, a team that we were 10 point or more under dogs to, all the way to the last seconds of the game. I was really surprised with the way CJ, Mostert, and Thomas played, as well as others.

I saw a lot to be excited about and they definitely looked better than they have in the last 4 seasons. They just need to get healthier and add some more talent/depth to the team. We are headed in the right direction.

Yea the last two drives for gb the backfield had no idea what to do. How does this happen? The minute colbert went out we were doomed. If the ball didnt hit our dbs in the back we defended nothing.

The game was very winnable. Our d looks scary for all the wrong reasons.

I agree... does seem very fishy that holding call. Also can't help but feel like something bigger is going on. If the Packers lose, the NFL takes a big ratings hit because the Packers aren't relative for the rest of the season and the NFL needs Aaron Rogers and the Packers right now. I also feel like there are some corrupt officials in the league right now. Seriously need an investigation into the officials!
