The word we are looking for, gentlemen, is "susceptible". The secondary is susceptible to the occasional "OH, f**k ME!" moment. We want to try and limit that.
The "Ohh I thought he was your guy...good thing he can't catch!" moments.
Our secondary is atrocious and a huge liability (@SoCalNiners)
Overreaction? Yes.
Atrocious? Really?
The 49ers need to take the ball away. That is the area where the secondary needs to step up, for sure. Sam Darnold, Spencer Rattler and Kyler Murray combined for four touchdowns passes and no interceptions in three games.
San Francisco's pass rush can do a much better job of putting pressure on the quarterback, but the defensive backfield generally has held up well. In three games, the opposition is averaging 172 yards passing per game. The 49ers' pass defense ranks third, allowing just 5.6 yards per pass attempt.
That is far from atrocious.
