IMO, we will need to get 2 for next season.
1 or 2 in the draft depending how it plays out
1 in FA if we can't get 2 in the draft.

There are reports the Colts want to bring him back. They've been waiving and re-signing players every week.
Never hurts to kick the tires and gauge interest though.
The only problem with Basham is he's pretty much a one trick pony to getting after the quarterback. He doesn't possess many counter moves in his arsenal and I haven't gained much confidence in our coaching staff yet to develop him much further along. With that said I am concious of how poor our depth is on natural edge rushers so I still wouldn't mind gauging his interest.

I'm starting to get this may be the bigger issue.

Watch the opposing team if you want to find this pass rush.

me to. i have zero confidence in the defensive coaching staff. makes no sense to bring in anyone new cuz the staff is either unable or unwilling to know what to do. a sad state of affairs but thats the way it appears to be. best just get through this. get our 4 wins. change the defensive scenery across the board in the off season and focus on year three of the rebuild

It seems like every guy we try at pass rusher is limited in some way or just plain isn't very good. Such a hard position to fill and getting harder with the new rules where you can barely touch the QB. We are probably going to luck into a guy the way we did with Aldon Smith or Haley. Neither guy was expected to be as good as they turned out to be. Unfortunately we had some issues with Haley and he had to go and Smith self destructed.

I don't think the phrase "kick the tires" applies to someone in their 2nd year in the NFL. Usually say that for an old vet.

Didn't they hire a pass rush specialist?

or maybe they have just tried and stuck with crap players like marsh and aa. and then you have a guy like eli and lynch who were less than good for us and they thrive other places

AA will be a stud on another team once he leaves here. Probably turn into another Buckner.

Be that as it may one of the litteral translations is "to try something or examine it carefully before you buy it."
So does it really matter? Lol
Your probably right in a traditional sense. I just don't really care about that 10 mins after I roll out of bed, hung over. Lol. Let's not get so bored that we're debating proper context of old idioms.
