Yeah, bad as the Run D was last yr, it was harder to watch the opposing QBs order lunch, drinks, have a smoke, and the pass rush still never got there. Watching last yr was one painful task. And entertaining it wasn't. I am so stoked about our front 7 this yr, I just can't wait to see those guys come together.

And I am saying the beads for the DBs.

Ish, let's keep it real... 2012 SB on even when we had a great D, our pass rush was still an issue at times as far as sealing the deal.

The reason why I'm not WORRIED about our secondary as well.. is I think we finally got a staff to be smart enough playing people based on matchups too. That's why I wanna kinda see a CB by committee approach on the #2 WR. you get beat, send in the next man up and ride the hot hand if you find it.
With a scary D Line, the secondary can only improve this year.
It will be interesting to see how well the secondary picks up the new defense.

Just went back and read this, and i like the thinking...Corner by committe with a bunch of applicants. If CB 1 can't handle coverage, try CB 2. And on down the line. I like the idea and Saleh has pretty much said we are playing man...ie, everyone has his own guy to cover. The problem for me remains talent. I just feel unesasy there. Hey we got miles better at DL and LB, so Corners may be for next yr But jeez, i would love to find a starting corner this yr and go with him. Just one guy in the D backfiedl to play well...just one and i will be happy for the yr. Last yr i never found it and this yr feels the same. One guy on PUP and where is it? DBackfield, naturally. Cripes....we need somet talent back there. Concussion, hammy...doesn't take much. But one stud in DB would really be appreciated.

Robinson and Ward will play well. Everybody else is a questionmark

In response to Paso.. I more so meant for example in week 1 we got the Panthers. Put DJ on Funchess, if he gets beat more than once insert Spoon right away. Samuel is their slot, so whoever wins the slot job...the loser should go in right away if starter gets beat a few times. Hope you catch my drift.
Bump.
Not super excited about this bunch, I bet Lynch isn't either. I expect a few pick ups at the final cut down, or maybe a trade.

They pulled Tyreek off the line on that first play. I want to see is Saleh picks up on that going forward. Good learning opportunity.

I like Jerome but he might not be good enough to be a single high on this team as the biggest issues on D were the early deep passes our secondary gave up without his help over the top. We might need to pick up a veteran safety to back up injury prone Ward or risk teams beating us deep and often.

It's certainly worth exploring. We need serious range back there.
Rome was not built in a day. It is clear that Lynchs goal this offseason on defense was the front 7. I expect him to try to get some more talent in the secondary next year. With our division, it is a lot more important to stop the run rather than the pass.

49ers brought in Leon Hall would love it if they signed him. Former Pro Bowl CB who is still pretty decent vs the pass.

Good to put it in perspective.
I'm expecting a defense similar to the Raiders under Norton - aggressive, but with many holes that need talent and time.
