At minimum, we need 5 new starters next year: WR, OG, C, (O)LB, and CB

I'd hate to let guys like Hyde go when we have so little talent to begin with. Him, DJ, and Tank I would like to see return.

Reid can probably get a better deal elsewhere, and he's expendable (to the extent anyone is expendable when we're this bad). Don't want to bring back any of the FA OL--maybe Fusco as a backup.

In addition to the 5 starters, we need roughly another 12 depth spots (OLx4, DLx2, LBx2, CB, S, TE, WR). And that assumes we retain the good FAs and that our injured players come back healthy. No small task, but, hey, that's less roster turnover than we had this off-season.

Next year can't come soon enough.

Replace OLB with edge rusher/elephant imo. I dont think Harold is bad in base so if i had a say i want a 3 down elephant.

My needs in order... 3 down Elephant/Leo,C,OG,CB,WR.

So, aside from bringing in a handful of veterans to help install the systems, clearly, the "plan" in year 1 was to phase the older veterans out of the lineup and get as many snaps as possible for the rookies and young players to see who will stick going forward and who won't.

Here's a recent article on it as well: http://m.sfgate.com/49ers/article/Here-come-the-kids-49ers-rookies-getting-12303357.php

Through 7 games, these are the young players who have gotten real NFL snaps thus far (or could/should):

Here's proof of "the plan"...and it's not even close. Although I don't think the FO was expecting to get THIS many snaps for the rookies but the I.R. list ensued that. And this only includes rookies...think of all the snaps first and second year players are getting too. Major youth movement of building from scratch.

That's amazing, but don't forget ST and Foster have both missed another 500 snaps combined roughly from being injured. And they were likely a lock to get a ton of reps

You cannot overrate the value of experience. The problem that often occurs is that with a bunch of rookies and second year guys, they get frustrated if they are not getting results. Fortunately for the 49ers, that is clearly not the case so far. Everyone, including Joe Staley, has bought into what is going on this year and looking to the future for their time in the spotlight. Speaks well for the culture change that Lynch and Shanahan brought. Let's hope it continues to sell well in the FA market next spring.

CB (DJ is a FA)

I wouldn't say RB is a major need. The NFL, especially Shanny's offense, their RB's are plug and play. If it was a major need, then I wouldn't spend any draft capital acquiring one.

They need an ADDITIONAL OG. Garnett is unproven but they need a RG and LG.

They need another book end lineman. A Leo is nice but what makes a front 7 so good is their abililty to rush the passer from both sides. Right now, they cannot generate any pressure anywhere.

I would say they need at least 1 CB, but maybe two. Witherspoon is unproven so I don't have faith in him. But I would get a CB this offseason and maybe another one NEXT offseason.

I think what this team truly lacks is a big bodied WR. They have three solid WR's in Taylor, Garcon and Goodwin, but they need that mismatch in the redzone. Bryant from the Steelers would be an ideal fit. (skill set wise)

Thomas isn't a DE, he's an undersized DT. With that said, I hope he pans out.

I think what is missing from your list is a complimentary TE to go with Kittle. I think someone like Eifert could fit that bill.

Solid thinking and I agree with a lot of it. I feel like we should sign a starting Guard and Center in FA. Draft a few linemen to develop as well. I would roll with Garnett or a rook at one of the guard spots. Most lines can handle a "weak" link as the grow into the system etc. Take a tackle prospect to groom behind Staley and Brown. We get lucky on these picks and we will have a good o-line for a long time.

If there was a sure fire leo and he was there in the 1st I don't see how we do not do it, but dline 4 years in a row will have 90% of the zone on f**king fire lol (including myself partially, but i get it)

Lockdown corner or #1 WR is obvious as well, but are there any projected in the draft?! I have no idea.

I feel more and more like we should try to snag more picks and trade down. Hopefully there are teams dying to trade up to our spot. Maybe even get higher picks for 2019 instead of more in 18. (This is me assuming we solidify the oline in FA and maybe another quality FA on D as well) Say we trade down, still land a LT, G or that LB Smith, an extra 2 and another 1 next year... you wont hear me complain.

I believe even if we nail this offseason, i would be humble to expect 8-8 at most. This is definitely a multi year rebuild, but its best this way to have sustained success.

Thank God. Kilgore is the first thing that stood out(Jensen). Fusco isn't as bad as people say at worse competition for next year. DJ competition for team friendly deal(Breeland/Fuller 2nd tier). I think Tartt makes Reid expendable. No way I see D Lawrence available but if he is, go get him

Most of Fusco's hate transcends from earlier in the season. He was pretty rough around the edges at first but seems to have settled in now and is putting some solid functional guard play out there on the field. Makes sense though because Fusco has been in predominantly man blocking schemes since entering the NFL. He seems to be hitting his stride as a zone blocker now.

Yeah he's really come on the past 3 games. He's 29 so he might be hitting his stride. At worst...excellent push starter and depth.

The FO and coaching staff be like, "Tell me about it!"

It looks like we'd just need a T, C and QB and we'd have a full 11 starters plus extra for 3WR-sets and nickel/dime sets (slot CB)

No debating that one anymore...for the 4th year in a row.

BTW, that defensive I.R. team is legit.
