It DEFINITELY is. Stay 💪
By my estimation, this is what we need (based on performances thus far, and subject to change):

1. Interior OL
I'd say at least two new OGs and a center. Kilgore is up and down. So is Tomlinson. Fusco is terrible. Garnett is hurt but did not look good even before then (never liked the pick, reminded me too much of Marcus Martin). Magnuson might be something with development, but we need new blood and a lot more competition in this area.

2. DE/Pass Rusher
Lynch seems to have plateaued, and is injury prone. Dumervil is old. Jury is still out on Solomon Thomas. Armstead is hurt, but he's not a fit for DE in this system anyway. He should be spelling Buckner inside. Carradine is hurt also, and was doing solid but isn't his contract up soon? We need a true game-changer at the position.

3. Outside WR
We need a go-up-and-get-it vertical guy who present a height mismatch on the outside. A true #1 WR. Garcon is fantastic, but he's a borderline #1 these days. He'd benefit from having another star talent on the other side.

4. Quarterback
Even if Beathard does well, we still need to invest in the position because it is the most important spot. Need to do everything we can to try to find that franchise guy.

5. Linebacker
Specifically SAM. Harold can't rush the passer. He's backup material. Armstrong is a borderline starter, but undisciplined and offers no pass rush either. We have to be worried about Foster's long term health at this point, considering the way he plays. Historically, MLB's simply get hurt a lot. Just look at current or former LBs like Willis, Bowman, Kuechly, Borland, Armstrong (last year), Sean Lee, etc.

6. Free safety
I don't think Ward is the guy for this spot. We have no one in development here either.

7. Corner
Anyone watching the past few games knows we desperately need help here.

8. Future LT
Staley is great, but he's had some bad games this year. We need to start looking for help here.

Excellent breakdown of team needs. I couldn't agree more!

Really well done, OTC. I wil just add a few comments to yours, altho i think you hit all the high (and low) point.

1.Interior OL....we need to buy TWO starting OLs, hopefully both in their mid to late 20s ...a Mack like C and at least one all pro caliber OG. In draft add anotehr potential starting OL

2.DE/Pass rusher....Tank is gone, dooms is old. We need to BUY two ERs, both top flite caliber. Also need to get a potential talent in draft. Getting two ER starters? 1 will be hard enough. And i hope we keep Armstead, and let him grow into our system. At worst he could be an excellent back up for Buckner. But he has talent. Needs coaching in worst kind of way. Blair and DJ are boht guys i want to see make it. Both are close, imo.

3.Outside WR...right on the money. See who comes up in FA, But also may be a guy from draft. Should be big, strong, fast, long arms....and can jump like a rabbit...eg, Dez Bryant, AB, etc
Tough to find one of these in draft. Buy the best one out there unless he is just so so...in that case , make it a big draft item, maybe #1 unless a premier ER is there and there is only one.

4.QB...Here i think a bit differently. I think kyle already has found his FR QB who has checked off all Kyle's qB boxes....stays in pocket , eyes glued downfield , can take the hits, does reads and progressions very well, accurate, good head on his shoulders, takes everything in, smart, hits the books...and not on the list...has good wheels. I think Kyle already has made his choice, and now is seeing just how much punishment CJ can take. You will note, no excuses, not saying a word about fusco and kilgore. Now he wants to see if he can fashion a W out of nothing. Literally nothing. And if he does, i think kyle will admit he has his man... right now, not quite there yet. Wants to see him absorb more punishment and rise above it. .(IMO)
Agree that we still would need another QB in the system so again be looking in the 4th rd or thereabouts...wherever kyle spots the talents he needs to have. If CJ does not pan out, then full bore on cuzins. But i think CJ is the one.

5.LB. Armstrong stays, even if it is in a backup role. He can be coached up some still. His coaching to date has been less than desirable. We need two starters here, and i am afraid this is a FA purchase, once agian. Still would get some depth in draft. I hope Reuben isn't a medical mistake. If so then we need 3 starting LBs...ouch.

6, Free safety....agree, ward is half way out the door already.. He is an outstanding trash talker, but "all hat, no cattle" Gone by yrs end, maybe sooner, i hope. Currently being tried at LB.
We need two. Buy one, a starter, and draft one in top 3 picks.

7. Corners...how do you buy 2 starting corners? If there is one in the shut down corner mold, then buy him, even if he is a $15 mil purchase. If another is there, buy him too, but he better be sensational. In draft, if there is a stud, we want him...but that may interfere with ER , #1 Wr, et al. Drafting CBs seems to be a crapshoot so better be certain this is the guy. It is a lot safer to buy 2 but if we can find only one, whatever he costs, buy him. Tired of NO CB on the team for ever it seems. We could limp along wiht one shut down corner. But be damn sure he is as advertised.

8. future LT....maybe on team already, in Darren williams on PS. I would bet we see him this yr , even if for short period of time. Also draft one that looks promising in rd 4-5 on if potential talent.

But overall, you got it all. Well done.

Thanks OTC...a lot of food for thought! I would have a different order but you certainly hit the highlights.

1. QB--they need to find their FQB soon. I like Beathard but he needs legitimate competition and I expect them to pick up Cousins or draft a QB in round 2 or 3.
2. Pass rush--whether they draft a fire breathing DE or OLB...or both...they need help.
3. CB--lockdown guy who can stick with top WRs. Robinson has been lost much of this year and unless someone develops...
4. WR--someone who can strike fear in the opponent would be nice...
5. OL--will Shanahan be able to make do as his father did in Denver? He picked guys who fit the scheme and didn't have to use high draft picks (he used 2 firsts in 13 years for OL).

The funny thing about these needs is that CB may be the 3rd or later need, but you don't find lock down corners past the top rounds...generally. You can find some very good interior OL and WRs in later or mid rounds.

Oh FYI, my list was in no particular order, just thought up as each came to mind.

But yeah, we have needs all over the place. I'm just hoping people still want to come here despite how this season goes.

This mo' like it.
Kinda funny seeing that every time a good player is rumored to be leaving another team, someone on social media says the niners should take him. That's when you really know you are in a rebuild with so many needs.

Nice break down OTC and others on here. Thank you.

This is why you're a hall of famer. The only thing I would add is that the 49ers need two book end DE's, not just one. Maybe Blair can be that guy but the 49ers need two outside forces to make the QB step up in the pocket and get killed by Buckner.

All 3 LB spots
Go ahead update that injury report. Ward broken forearm.

Nooooo Jimmie.
Sounds like Staley has a broken orbital too. On an unflagged illegal hit, no less.
