For what it's worth, the #49ers did have a real and legitimate offer for someone to come to No. 2 yesterday. #Bears offer was best value.

I'm sure they did, there were a lot of teams that wanted QBs yesterday. Trubisky was a hot prospect, so I don't blame the Bears for doing what they did. If Bears didn't make that trade, some other team would've traded up and drafted Trubisky at #2, and the Bears would've lost out on him. I think it's a good move for both teams, especially for the Bears if they actually got their FQB.

They could get crazy and move into the second for Kizer but I hope not. I think RB or CB will be the next pick. Our TE group could be bolstered via free agency. If at all. Barnidge makes sense.

If we move back into the second I see us going after a pass catching RB. A guy like Alvin Kamara. Or we could get a bruiser like Mixon. Lynch doesn't seem to be afraid of players with some baggage but Mixon may be too much.

If we can land Cook that would be great but it would cost too much to move up that high. I see us taking Kamara or the best available CB.

Reported we're looking for a TE tonight...we'll see a ton of good prospects. I'm on the hunt bandwagon. Like kamara but he's gonna go high imo

Shanahan seems to use TE's for blocking more than catching passes. Vance and Celek are good blockers, Bell not so much.

I would think RB takes priority, as far as recreating Atlanta's offense. We'll see. I'll be good with whatever they do so long as we don't trade the farm for an iffy QB.

The 49ers are thinking hard about drafting a TE today. Kyle Shanahan picked Jordan Reed with the Redskins in round 3. SF needs a playmaker

Gerald Everett has been connected to the 49ers throughout this process.

Nice. I thought Evan Engram might be a guy we would target before the Giants snagged him. Everett is a similar matchup nightmare. I thinK Shanahan will want that type of piece in the passing game, as well as a versatile RB/WR like Curtis Samuel.

Biggest concern with Everett? 8.5 inch hands. That's entering Presidential territory

I'd keep an eye on these names . We're 2/2 for drafting guys we had a pre-draftvisit with. These are the guys that we visited with that could be there at 66/67:

51 Ahkello Witherspoon CB
66 Dion Dawkins G
69 Dan Feeney G
70 Julie'n Davenport OT
72 Tim Williams Edge
77 Kareem Hunt RB
78 Carlos Henderson WR
87 Teez Tabor CB
88 Nathan Peterman QB

I really hope we take Kizer.

I expect to see some offense in the coming rounds, however, I have more confidence than some in the guys we picked up in FA. Those guys, along with a coach that can scheme mediocre players into decent talent, will make the offense average at least. We discussed Hoyer ad nauseum in the QB thread, but let's just remember he had four very good games with Chicago before injury. The guy is not chopped liver.

I do t see the value of taking a TE at 66/67. Hope we spend those picks more wisely. My humble opinion.

The point is they didn't need to. He was gonna be there at #3 for them anyway.

Honestly they didnt know that...lynch said we were open for business. More than one team could have wanted Mitch including the browns.

Lynch said himself that there were other offers for the pick. Even if you think he's a liar, the Bears gave up very little to get their QB.

So funny to laugh and make fun of Chicago without knowing how things will turn out. Easy I guess. If Trubisky turns out to be a Brady level QB they will look back at this trade and wonder how the 9ers didn't see it. If he is a dud then the niners were brilliant. At this point we can't possibly know! But...what the heck, it's fun to be a fan of the team everyone is complementing! Go niners!

I'm still laughing at this tweet cuz its either Chicago really really really wanted Trub or Ryan Pace really fell for those rumors that teams was trying to trade up. Either way the 49ers fleeced chicago, Great job Lynch and Paraag and BTW that's what happens when you dont leak anything except smokes.

Good point. Free Agency was mostly devoted to improving the offense, so I figured the draft would be more slanted toward improving the defense.. None of the offensive guys we signed are elite players or anything, Garcon clearly being the best of the bunch, but they fit what Shanahan wants to do and he will scheme up some success on that side of the ball. Defense needed a serious infusion of toughness and speed. They got that with Thomas and Foster.

The defense suffered at the hands of Chip Kelly last year. It seemed clear that his scheme would make the defensive stats look terrible as it did in Philly.

34 year old Alex Smith back over Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster? I don't get it.
