I'm not gonna panic, but you gotta admit that Shanny's OL strategy will be under a microscope real early. Respect to Jared Verse, but he's no Myles Garrett. We only have one guy on our OL who can remotely block Garrett, and I guarantee that he won't be lining up on Trent's side much. And God help our interior OL when they stunt and game him to our OG and center. Our interior OL won't stand a chance against Myles Garrett. All I can say is that we had better be able to run the ball.

If Miles Garrett wrecks our offence there are gonna be a lot of people questioning Shanny's OL strategy. I'm just saying . . . .

The bigger issue vs the Rams is we still have no one who can cover opposite Lenoir. Rams actually upgraded their secondary so to add Garrett makes them stronger defensively as a whole.

But once again. We were in the exact position the Rams were in 2021 and had every chance to finish with the Lombardi but 2 key injuries, some brutal turnover luck and decisions stopped it from happening. Jed had the right team in place, they just didn't close it out. And I can guarantee had the refs favored us the way they did the Rams in their SB, we win.

Just trash luck on our part but you can't point to the Rams doing something so different from us. If we're being real had we not been as banged up as we were we're playing in that SB. Not to mention I don't know if that Rams team would've done well playing in the freezing temps of Lambeau had we not knocked out the #1 seed for them. Oh yeah and F Tartt!

Hopefully this year we don't help them out...
Yes you can. How many first round picks have we traded away for established All-Pros?

The Rams definitely wouldn't be sitting quietly on the most cap room in the league like we are.

Why does it have to be first round picks?

You realize Rams didn't trade any first round picks for established All Pros that were the main reason they won that SB right? The Rams DID sit quietly on the most cap room when they didn't have a team they felt could be favored to win it all.

Stop acting like Stafford doesn't exist

I mean… we were saying the same thing when they traded for Goff. And Peters/Talib. And Ramsey. And Stafford. And Von Miller. And now McDuffie and Garrett.

I do think people are overreacting but at the same time the Rams have shown there are always more picks in the future… heck if any trades turn out bad you can just make more! I totally get why people might be tired of this while our biggest moves are CMC and Trent Williams (Trey Lance didn't really work out and Dee Ford only kinda did).

Osa was perhaps our biggest trade in like the last 4 years for comparison.

Who was the Rams big trade in the last 5 years before this year? Rams made those moves at the right time for them. When we were in position to make moves like that we made them - Trent Williams, CMC. Just couldn't close it out in the end to make it count unfortunately.

Let's not forget that we're somewhat mirroring what the Rams did in their rebuild post their off year after their SB. Once again the main difference is they held a 3 point lead to win their SB and we couldn't.

Rams offloaded majority of the guys you listed and hit the draft heavy to find youth and depth. They went 10-7 in back to back seasons after that down year.

So far we've got one up on them going 12-5 after our rebuild season and actually won a playoff game unlike their first season post rebuild. Question is...can we stick to the path they were on? If we do I imagine at the same point in our rebuild process we'd be more likely to swing for the fences.

Literally two months ago they traded a 1st and change for McDuffie lol

...two months ago was what season?

How shocking they went for a big time trade when owning 2 first round picks and coming off an NFCCG appearance and a 12-5 record with an aging MVP QB.

I love what you're insinuating...but the man broke the all time sack record and won DPOTY. If that's signs of decline then help us!

Took him 5 games to get one sack.. what's their depth if he goes down?

That's the problem with making trades like this. You get top heavy and don't have the young guys to bring up.

But still your point is silly. The man was chasing the all time sack record and had 22 sacks through 15 games. I'm not sure in what world that's considered signs of decline. Literally everyone was trying to keep him from getting sacks in every which way.

I certainly hope he hits some kind of decline but that's wishful thinking.
Per the Athletic it sounds like this is the compensation

In addition to Verse, the Rams will send the Browns a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick, multiple league sources said. The deal is pending physicals.
With Myles Garrett coming it's a good thing we have Mac as a backup. Facing the current Rams and Seattle 4 times in the schedule is a QB gauntlet!
Score 1 for Lynch and Company. Here's a prayer for the training staff... Oh yeah, Joey Bosa ain't gonna counter this Rams move.

My dude ENTIRE TEAMS get built within 2-3 years you can't be serious with this level of cope 😂

That, and in 2-3 years, will Kittle be on the team? Will Bosa be on the team? Will CMC be on the team? Will Juice be on the team? Will Trent be on the team? Will Dre be on the team? Will even Warner be on the team? And if any of them are, they won't be better. Go time is now with this core.

Great question but you still shouldn't throw your future away if you're not VERY confident in your roster. I like our roster but even before this trade looking at Rams and Seattle it's hard to say we're better. Those are the types of moves you make when you think you're one impact player away.

We are not. Still too many questions with guys coming back from injury and unproven players at key spots. Would've loved to make the move for Garrett but we don't have the bodies to give up and not sure Browns would've taken enough in draft pick only compensation from us.
The cope is crazy. Myles Garrett by himself had more sacks than the 49ers as a team.

Verse is a damn good player, but Myles Garrett is the most talented pass rusher the NFL has ever seen. That's a no brainer trade, and they still got to keep Byron Young(who is the better pass rusher of the two) AND Kobie Turner

All I'm saying is that we had better be able to run the ball. Because if not, Myles Garrett is gonna tee-off on our average OL. Look at what happened to our OL against a good DL. Now, the Rams DL looks to be just as good as Seattle's, and we have to face both of them twice. And given that Shanny & Lynch simply will not address the OL in any meaningful way I have shacky confidence that our OL will be able to hold up to either of these teams.

I'm firmly on the fire John Lynch wagon now.
Maaan if we don't go get a pass rusher to pair with Bosa after this BS this has completely sucked my optimism out for this season. We are a damn good team but the rams just went over the top and the nfl can't figure out seattles defense nor stop JSN
Garrett is a monster but it isn't like they added him to line from last season. they traded Jared verse for him. so it's a net positive for the rams but they dont have Verse and Garrett..
would be like us trading Bosa for Garrett - we would be better but still in a similar position with only one pass rusher.

They were one win away from having home field throughout this year. If go time is not now, then it won't ever be. The perfect scenario doesn't exist, and both Lynch and Kyle aren't getting forever. So if this regime ever is going to win one, then they have to take the risk of not competing for a year, (b/c that's all it's ever costed the rams with their strategy).

How many All Pros did Stafford have when the Rams traded for him? 49ers tried to trade for Aaron Rodgers...actually someone who had All Pros but the Packers didn't want to do the deal. They tried to trade for Khalil Mack and actually offered more than Bears gave the Raiders but Davis didn't want to trade Mack to the 49ers.

So what exactly was your point other than after the Rams traded for Stafford and made a bunch of other moves and still got lucky with a few things they won a SB and we didn't?
