I dont see how you can judge where we are but considering we were in the final 8 with this broken down unit, I think its safe to say we still can compete for Super Bowls next year.
What has been made very clear is our lack of speed on offense, pass rushers and edge setters on defense, and tight end depth. Could add corners but those guys played with the league's worst pass rush.
A quality draft with no reaches and actually playing the guys we draft, moreso on offense, will do wonders.
I'll also add dominant run blocking and pass protecting O-line.
Back at the beginning of the season, we had a veteran and a top-pick rookie that were doing that but then...
Lynch addressed the issue in the draft, and in adding White and Huff during the season.
There is some promising young talent in the secondary. It is just hard to evaluate them with a historically bad pass rush.
The problem was all the wheels kept falling off the wagon as those pieces could not stay healthy.
They do every year (injuries). maybe not to this level but god isn't everyone tired of telling everyone (friends and non-9er fans) It's the injuries year after year.

pretty good!! pretty good !!
