Exactly. The number of times the 49ers passed over an obvious BPA for their guy is f**king stupid.

people focus way too much on positional need, but the focus should be on getting impact players regardless of what position they play. I'd take an impact player at any f**king spot on the field right now.

Yeah the "we're smarter than everyone else" draft picks have been brutal misses.
And stop drafting f**king RBs. When you look at all the picks they wasted on RB's over the years, they could have filled in so many more holes on the roster.

Joe Williams
Trey Sermon
Tyrion Davis Price
Isaac Guerendo
Jordan James

None of these guys have amounted to jack crap thus far, and that doesn't even include the picks they've traded for other RB's like McCaffrey and Robinson.
Our head coach can't draft wide receivers an our GM can't draft defensive backs.

I'm not gonna hate on the Pearsall or Aiyuk picks. They both are really good WRs when on the field. Can't expect Aiyuk to be a mental midget and Pearsall who had no injury history coming out of College.

WR's is not the issue. s**t even Dante Pettis is still in the NFL. Aiyuk was a legit star that turned out to be a complete headcase. Pearsall when healthy has been very good, Jennings was a 7th round home run. Hurd and Danny Gray have been the only "holy crap, wtf were they thinking" picks at WR.

Overdrafting RB, underdrafting OL and in general making seemingly desperate picks like Latu has cost them substantially.

Deebo and Jennings were good picks as well.

Fill needs with reasonable FA's so you can draft cornerstone prospects

Our misses in FA have been just as catastrophic as our drafts.

John needs to do his best job since he came here this offseason. There are lot of defiencies on this team that need to be addressed. This draft and f*gency need to be spot on.

This team made a concerted effort to stop FA spending in the last off-season. Not sure the Yorks are going to opening the pursestring now with all the new investment into other things.

Agree and that's typically our approach to free agency. Theirs some Safeties that will be hitting FA that I hope we take a look at.
The success of the draft isn't about John and the Scouts. The real issue, in my opinion, is the involvement of Kyle and our coaches in the first two days of the draft (rounds 1-3).
Jed needs to step in and force a real GM to administer the draft. His uncle demoted Walsh as President; Jed should do the same. You can still take input from coaches but they don't get positional value and instead get enamored with 'their guys' which usually causes overdrafting.
