If you can't see it by now I don't know what to tell you.

I understood it was Lynch that wanted Trey and Shanny wanted Mac Jones.

I remember a ProFoootballTalk article saying it was Shanahan who showed Trey Lance to Lynch. I remember that because I remember arguing with some posters that it was Lynch who wanted Lance. And I stood corrected. But no doubt Lynch has made some really bad moves….Shanahan too.

I don't think we'll ever know the truth about who wanted which QB, but whether they drafted Jones or Lance it was a stupid trade.
John Lynch is replaceable 9 seasons later and SOB still making rookie GM mistakes. I've been over this chump for quite a while they need to bring in someone who actually has had success at his position.

Jones was Shannahans guy and he allowed himself to be talked out of for whatever reason.
It's amazing how many made up narratives there are about Lance when there's tons of on-record quotes about what happened. In short, Shanahan really liked Lance and chose him over Jones. The end.

At this point I almost want the 49ers to fire Shanalynch and hire Tomsula 2.0 and go 0-17 for back-to-back seasons just so the whiners on this forum can stfu for once and realize the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Almost.

It would almost be worth it to watch these idiots squirm and be miserable, but they'd eventually just disappear from the forum as the 49ers descend into another irrelevant franchise amongst the Raiders, Jets, Browns, etc.

This is my guess, Shanahan wanted Mac Jones all along at the 12th pick I think we originally had. But as soon as they moved up to #3 Shanahan started looking at other QB's or options.

You would really want that!!! I'd rather just ignore them and keep Shanahan.

I don't actually want that, hence the "almost." But the whining here is so egregious that it's actually tempting.

Of course it's a complete fantasy so it wouldn't happen. Odds are they'd be a middling team even if healthy if they got new guys, just based on law of averages for all HC/GM combos ever.

I feel your frustration, but at the end of the day, he took us to 4 NFC Champ and 2 SuperBowls in those 9 years. Where are we going to find a better resume? Same dilema with our Coach.

So Shanahan is the only reason we have had 4- .500+ winning seasons in 8 years??

Maybe if we had a competent HC we would have two Super Bowls instead of a HC who blew two leads in the SB.

Or, instead of calling guys who want this team to succeed "idiots" maybe you can realize that it's ok to criticize this regime because it's warranted.

But hey, anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot right?

You don't think it takes a competent HC to make multiple Super Bowls?

Or odds are we would have been to zero SBs since 2017 like 25 of the NFL teams.

Teams in SB since 2017 season:

Chiefs (5)
Eagles (3)
Rams (2)
Patriots (2)
49ers (2)
Buccaneers (1)
Bengals (1)

What's more likely - we stick as one of the 7 teams to actually make the SB in the previous 8 seasons, or we become one of the 25 to not even get that far?
