I will be very surprised if we can get Jeffrey, Pryor or Stills without a credible QB.

Agreeing to terms w/ Hoyer, Schaub, et al. today won't get it done.

They would have to grossly pay more than the next highest bidder. These dudes will want to know they can get that 3rd contract money too. Hopefully it works out.

Well that is how FA works. You are always overpaying players.

tbh, he was a gnarly route runner that could fit in this offense. but he probably doesn't wanna touch us, even if he grew up a fan.

I agree.

If I were Lynch my pitch to these guys would be: I will get you a QB to throw you the ball, my job also depends on it.

Thank you!!!

Who gives a shît if we spend money or keep smith contract on the roster. So much space and it's not our money!! Spend it!!!

I can't believe that this has to be explained. I believe, that if you really thought about it seriously for a few minutes, you'd realize pretty quickly why you don't pay $500 for a bad oil change service. It doesn't matter whether your the CEO of Google or not and the money doesn't matter. Then think about what happens if your mechanic finds out that your paying $500 for somebody to do a spotty job of your oil.

It's not difficult, you can't reward bad performances and expect your next results to get better. You send a signal that if you don't live up to your cost, you won't continue to get paid.

COME ON PEOPLE!

What are you talking about. Bad performance? Since when did we have a QB who could hit smith? He's talented, just not used. Flacco knew how to use him and made him a true weapon. I guess you're saying we don't need weapons.

We only had QBs who were garbage and took easier completions. Your comparison holds no water.

Sure torrey didn't have QBs target him and when they did, he got few chances. Still, he was our #1 and wasn't producing as an $8mil/yr WR. And kerley tripled his catches this yr and now is the proud owner of a $3mil/ yr contract (3 yrs), which he well deserves. He hustled, got open, ran great , sharp routes, and made the catches. In short, he brought home the bacon...and was justly rewarded. Good luck to Torrey's next stop. I just hope he matches up with a QB who throws good balls to him. But here, no matter whose fault, he wasn't producing, and football is not just a game, it is also a business. And whether it's selling cars, or catching footballs, the guy who doesn't produce is replaced by the guy who consistently catches more balls...or sells more cars. Kerley is our new man, at less than half the cost. But he isn't our #1. We need two WRs. Streator is a decent backup, not starter. We have been WR poor for 4-5 yrs. It was past time for a change, a change for the better. Good start.

Stevie is the "Where's Waldo" of the NFL. "Hey QB...guess where Stevie is...because he won't be on the route called!"

Look at it this way: Kerley roughly tripled Smith's production. Additionally, Patton and Celek both gained more yards than Smith. Draughn was 4 yards away from matching Smith's receiving yardage total. It was time to go. You can argue it was a bad QB, but when you've got other players on the team out-performing him, and other players on OTHER teams with arguably WORSE QB's last year than us still producing, it ultimately points to the player himself not getting it done.

This is why you're probably my favorite poster here OTC spitting out that knowledge and facts. Smith is a one trick pony and he will find a better fit elsewhere.

It's been 20 minutes. Did we sign everybody available in FA yet?

I'm awake...

Maybe Kyle can make something out of Stevie? He'll come cheaper than torrey and can do more things!
