A lot here….not a damn thing about being a bad teammate though. You could say the opposite of that.

baker and OBJ just never got on the same page on the field. Happens, chemistry matters for a WR/QB

He won't make it to the raiders

Just saw on ESPN the browns agreed to wipe the last two years on his contract so he becomes a free agent after this year.

As I was saying previously.

But either way, we can't afford him this year. Unless he wants to redo his contract again. LOL

No one is gonna pickup his contract thru waivers

edit: what was lost in that report was if it the new deal was $7M in base salary on what's left or if that was the deal for the 2021 yr.

per PFT…Is it possible that the remaining base salary was reduced to $7.25 million, not the remaining salary to be paid? If so, the team that claims the balance of the contract will be on the hook for only nine of 18 game checks, or $3.625 million. (Schefter's report, as currently written, makes it clear that there's $7.25 million remaining in unpaid salary. Which, again, reflects no reduction of any kind in Beckham's salary.)

edit: what was lost in that report was the new team is only responsible for the remaining games. So it's actually like $3.6M according to PFT

Where did you see it's just $3.6M, he's owed $7.25M over the final 9 weeks.

His base salary for 2021 was $14.5M, so through 9 weeks he'll have been paid $7.25M, leaving another $7.25M left to be paid for the final 9 weeks, it's $7.25M left to be paid, was that Florio, or a commenter? Like someone under the article?

$7.25 million was the number I read as well. He will be a free agent at the end of the season. Base don that is it really worth signing him at this point? This team doesn't look playoff bound and certainly not SB bound. Why rent a guy that doesn't know the system for 9 weeks. He has no time to work with Jimmy who is already comfortable with Deebo and Kittle. How many targets would he get? Of course he has to get past several teams before they can even consider signing him.

Plus the team, if they made the waiver claim, apparently, has to have the money when they put the claim in, so they'd need to redo deals ASAP, I doubt he gets claimed, I doubt he signs with us, he's gonna go to a contender, people will b***h, but he's gonna sign for the minimum, since CLE will take on a $7.25M dead money hit from the remainder of his base salary, which is GTD as of week 1.

So how does this work? I heard that any team claiming him would have to pay $7.25 million. If he goes unclaimed and is signed as a free agent then you're saying Cleveland has to pay the remainder of his contract and the team that signs him can pay whatever. Is that right? It would make more sense for a team that feels that this year might be their best shot since he'll be back on the market when the season ends unless they sign him to a longer contract.

Not that any team will, but does any team even have that kind of cap space 8 games into the season?

If he goes unclaimed, Cleveland is on the hook for the $7.25M, minus whatever he makes for the remaining 9 weeks on a new deal, but they don't get it back till 2022. With a $7.25M cap hit if claimed, I don't see anyone claiming him, only 9 teams have enough cap room as of now, and apparently you need to have exactly $7.25M or more to claim him at the time you put a claim in.
