This team doesn't look playoff bound and certainly not SB bound. Why rent a guy that doesn't know the system for 9 weeks. He has no time to work with Jimmy who is already comfortable with Deebo and Kittle. How many targets would he get? Of course he has to get past several teams before they can even consider signing him.

Plus the team, if they made the waiver claim, apparently, has to have the money when they put the claim in, so they'd need to redo deals ASAP, I doubt he gets claimed, I doubt he signs with us, he's gonna go to a contender, people will b***h, but he's gonna sign for the minimum, since CLE will take on a $7.25M dead money hit from the remainder of his base salary, which is GTD as of week 1.

Not that any team will, but does any team even have that kind of cap space 8 games into the season?

9 do according to OTC.

Jags- $28.021M
Eagles- $21.439M
Broncos- $15.261M
Seahawks- $13.336M
Panthers- $11.489M
Washington- $11.127M
Chargers- $10.363M
Steelers- $10.154M
Bengals- $9.153M

Gotcha. Baalke in Jacksonville. Hmm.

Most likely nobody picks that up though. When he is claimed, do you expect a new multi-year deal?

Looks like Cleveland is converting $3M into a bonus, so now just a $4.25M cap hit, still only 13 teams can claim him, those 9, plus Houston, Dallas, GB & MIN, but the last 3 will likely see their cap room go below $4.25M depending on practice squad elevations today, so really just the 9, doubt Houston claims him.

As for new deal, I doubt anyone will give OBJ a long term deal, nor should OBJ even take one at this moment, he should wait till 2022 offseason where he'll be able to pick whoever he wants to go to.

Scratch that, the $4.25M is to be paid by CLE is he clears waivers, any team to claim him pays $7.25M, the final 2yrs void, meaning no comp pick if he leaves.

That's a big risk on his part too because teams will be looking at how he plays these final 9 games WITH a brand new team. A cheaper multi-year deal might be a good move for him and a new team. I'm not sure he's in position to bet on himself anymore.
All i know is if we ever draft or sign anyone with any injury concerns going forward this guy deserves the boot.

Meanwhile, more than half of the zone is clamoring for OBJ.

That's because OBJ isn't going to get paid Ford money, it's a low risk high reward not a damn 5 year 40 mil in guarantee money

Thing is, I don't see why he would eliminate those 2yrs where he'd get $15M if claimed, also, I doubt any team will give him a multi year deal that he'll like money wise at this time, unless he's willing to go to Jacksonville, or the Jets, then he probably settles for a 1yr minimum deal, hits FA, and gets what he can get, I mean Clowney did this, twice, didn't work out, players are stubborn, if the money isn't right, they won't and shouldn't take the deal.

Lol, Odell will want $40M or more in GTD money on a new deal, if you look at WR contracts, the market, if he can repair his image, and game, he'll command that much in GTD money, he'll likely want Hopkins type money per year.

Because there is no GTD cash in his contract after this yr….according to OTC Cleveland could have cut him after the season with no DM.

Low risk high return…massive difference signing Ford/Kwon to huge contracts and expecting meaning snaps vs bringing OBj for next to nothing for a half a season.
