Similar could mean not as much but close was offered. Should have just told the Faiders I'll match and top any offer on the table. I bet two firsts and no other picks like the raiders had to give back to the bears would have landed. him.

If Jimmy had broken his Achilles during the time of the Mack trade talks I bet the Raiders would had considered the 49ers offer as on par with CHI. I do think that at the time of the Mack trade, CHI was probably thought to have earlier picks in the round than the 49ers.
We missed out and let's move on. It's so painful to think about

The Faiders gave back a 2nd round pick. That's a lot of value that could have been taken off the table and potentially finalized a trade.

Similar or the same? It was reported that only the Bears ACTUALLY offered two firsts and the Raiders still had to give up their own 2nd to be able to say, they got 2 1sts out of the deal.

Neither the Jets or Niners made the same and they were "finalists."

Also, any FO will play one team against the other in negotiations and give everyone a chance to 1-up the best offer.

Clearly, we did not make the best offer.

Who was reporting that? People can throw out whatever they want but we heard it straight from the horses mouth (lynch)...people can say he's lying but for the most part this FO and coaching staff have been very transparent.

Gruden made his choice to send him to the Bears and not keep him in their backyard. Turns out it was a bad move for him...again

Makes sense. I get the feeling people severely underestimate Chucky's desire to move Mack out of the time zone so hes not shredding offenses for all Raiders fans to see each week.

Lynch just said on local radio. "We actually gave an offer very similar to the bears. Not sure why they chose to go with them"

So unless you wanted to give up even more, we can put that to rest.

Just as clearly, this will be the biggest mistake made by GM/HC for a very long time. This was one of those 6 pak deals...2 firsts, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds. We would have come out like bandits, even with a haul like that. Khalil is a once in a generation guy. We muffed it. I hope they learned a lesson here.

Nooooo. You don't come out like a bandit giving all that and signing a massive deal! For one, your cap is f**ked cuz we have jimmy, Mack, gonna sign buck soon. So you gotta rely on cheaper rookie deals to fill out your roster. Except we have no high draft picks. Totally f**ked in that situation.

2 1sts, 2 2nds and 2 3rds? Two years of drafts, to all intents and purposes. I am genuinely hugely pleased and relieved that the team did not make a deal like that.

This ^ it's pretty easy to see why they moved mack to Chicago vs SF before the season started.

People want to get mad because we didn't get him but there's more to it then trading picks.
we are a lot more than Khalil mack from being good, giving away two years of early picks for him wouldve been a stupid move. Buck needs to get paid too

For real! I would have told Oakland to kiss my ass lol. SF isn't close to a playoff contender even with just Mack. All I've heard about is how s**tty this roster is "worst in the NFL" "we would lose to Alabama" yet people are totally willing to give up two drafts to get ONE player AND that ONE player would command one of the richest defensive contracts in history.

I bet other GMs around league probably hate john lynch because how much he blabs to the media about trade negotiations.
Other posters here say Lynch didn't pursue him hard enough. Will these posters please provide hard evidence of that so we can show them that Lynch is a joke as a GM. *Sarcasm - just in case.
I would never give up 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds for any player. As good as Mack is he is an injury away from setting the Bears back 2 or 3 years. Too much for one player.

He's a PR guy and trying to show that they are trying.

We almost got Mack!
