Game day bump because at this point we need a hero
NY, please don't tell us that kap was doing fine under harbaw the last 18 mos( one and a half seasons)....because he wasn't. We had iupati and AD and their passblocking was not good, but kap looked awful. Awful. You can say what you want about kap's last 18 mos under harbaw, but between his total lack of ability to call a decent O game and kap's falling off a cliff in performance, the two looked horrid. Ok, the 3, kap, OL and harbaw. Since harbaw left, kap has gone downhill, the OL has imploded, and kap is just lost...totally lost and no improvement in sight. If it weren't for HC Tomsula, kap should have been pulled a month ago. He is not substandard, he iis awful. 5th yr and still can't read Ds well or quickly, still can't throw the most common pass in the NFL, the 3-5 yrarder, is consistently inconsistent, still has trouble deciding to run or throw it,(is showing some improvement here, but very little), and his maturity level which i had hoped would imrprove has not...." I don't care, bench me or trade me" ...Can you imagine any of our former QBs saying that? or Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Peyton, Luck, RG3, and so on? Answer is no. The facts are a mistake was made when we drafted kap, and instead of improving steadily he has been in a steady downward spiral. It is high time to recognize our mistake and to move on. As noted previously, i would rebuild wtih OL first, get 3 OL starters in draft and FA, rebuild DL with new starter, new OLB passrusher, and one of the 6 top flite CBs, plus another starting RB. Cleaning out all coaches and starting over, with an OC who is also our HC, would be most important hiring. Finding a top flite DC also high on list.

So please, don't tell us kap was doing well under harbaw....it is flat out not true. We need a new OL (3 starters), a new OC, HC, (and all other coaches), and a new Qb. That's a lot of new. We are not just a few players away from being ok. We now need a total rebuild.

We may need two new QB's which is why if Kap stinks it up this week its important to go with Gabbert and stick with him the rest of the season and see if he can be a serviceable vet. Otherwise you have to bring in another vet so you don't have to start a rookie. If he can at least be serviceable, that would be a huge help in developing a rookie and not having to over spend in $$ or draft pics for a mediocre veteran backup qb, that will have to start a season.

I agree with most of what you are saying. I do however think the secondary will be a strong unit going forward, and i think there are some solid pieces across the dline. We need a DC, 2 DL, 1ML, 2OL, 1S in FA/Draft IMO. The secondary will be a strong unit though if we can get the DL and pass rush figured out. Its the one unit Baalke knows how to address.

Offense is a total overhaul outside of Hyde, Smith, and Miller. Celek could stay around as well. I love Boldin but he is old, and everyone else can go for all i care. Time to let the young guys play and see what we have. It cant get worse. I want to see what we have in Simpson and Gabbert the most on offense as well.

Do we NOT wanna see Gabbert because Kaep is your favorite player, or what??

Why the heck would we pay somone over a million dollar if we have no belief that he can come of the bench??

It's not like we gonna cut KAEP the minute Gabby starts, we just wanna know what he can do... damnnn, we are paying the guy..

Would you guys be happy if Double A doesn't see a single play this year, because you all think he sucks?????

This. Nice post.

As far as I'm concerned, this staff's refusal to play Gabbert ANY reps is reason enough to fire Tomsula and Chryst.

The job of these two is to win. There are ZERO rational reasons to not at least TRY Gabbert. If he can't do it - FINE, but not trying him is plain stupid.

Since when are teams so concerned about the psyche of their players that you can't pull a struggling (or, in our case, terrible) QB? What happened to the Frank Reichs/Don Strocks/Jeff Hostetlers? It used to be that it was normal to bring a dude off the bench - now we can't bruise a crappy player's ego. TERRIBLE coaching.

Good post, Qb's get benched all the time in league history, some bounce back, some don't. If they can' they don't deserve to be in the league anyways. How many times did Alex get benched? He's still starting....

EXACTLY! If you can't weather a benching, how can you possibly be tough enough emotionally to play QB??? It is unfathomable to me. We benched Montana in a playoff game for god-sakes!!

Lol - I would laugh very hard if they played this or "I need a hero" when Blaine Gabbert comes in. I still think Kaepernick is better than Gabbert, but at this point, it's not like our offense can get much worse. Maybe they're playing Kaepernick hoping he has a couple good games so they can get something in return in a trade.
Damn

It happened
