When should we write off the season | Page 3

Im only a new niners fan but cant believe the amount of negativity and pessimistic view of what lies ahead. I have followed the NFL since the 80's but never adopted a team as my own, being a Aussie and following the Eels, the signing of Hayne finally gave me a connection with a team so the niners are now my team. The clubs have similar histories winning their first championship in the early 80's and dominating the decade but haven't regained the same level of dominance since. Every new season brings hope that maybe this year will be our year and every year I believe it might be right up until it becomes mathematically impossible for them to pull it off. I see a lot of niners fans have already written them off for this season the same thing happened to the Eels in 09. New coach, lost our half (QB) as the regular season started and after 18 of 26 rounds we had just 5 wins. We won the next 8 straight to make the play offs before loosing the last regular season game 37-0 to the team we had to play the first week of the play offs. We won convincingly the following week, the week after won again against a team that we had never beaten in history and again the week after to qualify for the grand final (SB). We lost the grand final but 6 months later the tittle was stripped form the winners for massive salary cap rorting. I guess what Im saying is keep the faith, there is always hope how ever unlikely it looks. There is also a bit of a connection between the Eels of 09 and this years 49ers. Most attribute the turn around in the Eels season to one man and he is now playing for SF. Hayne won 6 consecutive man of the match awards to lead the eels into the play offs and be voted the leagues MVP. Im not saying he can do that this year for SF although Im sure he will trying to play a part but he certainly knows that while ever there is a chance how ever slim it can be done. If Kap can find some form there is no reason he couldn't do something similar.

What's funny to me is all of us, me included, think we know what went wrong and what needs to be done to make things right. I remember the times that some guy would try to tell me what I was supposed to do at my job, just so his life would be easier. He really had no friggin idea what went into me being at that particular spot at that moment.

We think we know who should be fired, who should be hired, and what sort of defense and offense the team should be using. There are guys in that building (HQ) that have spent many years , working full time, just trying to make the team better from every stand point. This is their life, and some of us think that decisions are made by throwing darts against the wall. It's three games into the season, a season that saw more turmoil than any other season ,ever. Maybe, just maybe, we should back off from our all-knowing position and give them a chance to do their jobs without the non stop criticism that is so easy and prevalent here.

Thinking is difficult. That's why so many people judge...

Poor Tomsula, if I've ever seen someone set up to fail it's him. He did a great job coaching our d line for a long time and he seems like a pretty good guy. Walsh couldn't win with this roster.

Walsh would never have had this roster. And since he was the GM at the time ... where do you think the fault lies now? It's what happens when your head coach doesn't have an offensive philosophy or defensive philosophy and your GM is picking guys that fill his own philosophy. We are a rudderless team.

you dont write off the season if your a true fan you stick with them. we are a young team now there is gonna be growing pains but well get better maybe as the year goes on or next but we will get better

People calling for Tomsulas head at this point, three games into his first season as HC, just want him to fail. Its as simple as that.

We actually pissed away the game vs. the Bears and almost beat AZ, who at that point was looking like a contender.

These two games were over in the SECOND QUARTER. That is what was worrisome.

No one wants him to fail. He's going to fail because he's underqualified, grossly. That was obvious to some of us in January and its showing its self now.

Seems we are in the minority.
Like I said in the OP the Eels in 09 looked even worse than SF so far this year, 3/4 of the way through the regular season they had won 5 games in 18 rounds, almost mathematically eliminated (150:1 chances) somehow they turned it around without a change in coaching staff or playing roster.
Last game of the regular season their winning streak came to an end loosing 37-0 to the competition leaders, turned it around again the following week against the same team and facing elimination if they lost, winning 25-12. Shows how quickly things can change.

Two bad games, im not going to stop believing we are a chance yet.

This s**t almost made me cry, because it's so true, but the ownership will never see it that way. Trent is gonna be there until he dies, and we're gonna keep shooting ourselves in the foot year after year.

I wish there was some billionaire out there that could buy the team off that little coward b***h Jed York. We need an owner who is his own man, worked his way up, is a cutthroat b*****d, cares about winning and only winning, and not about "winning with class".

Well I want Kaerpernick, Trent, and the whole coaching staff outta there. Sure they might be able to put a winning season together some day, but that combination will never get us that 6th championship we all seek.

Ask yourself this: do you really think this coaching staff, QB, and GM are championship caliber?

Starts with the owner. Has anything this ownership done be championship quality? Besides hiring Harbaugh, who even a blind man could see was a winner.
