When should we write off the season | Page 4

Im only a new niners fan but cant believe the amount of negativity and pessimistic view of what lies ahead. I have followed the NFL since the 80's but never adopted a team as my own, being a Aussie and following the Eels, the signing of Hayne finally gave me a connection with a team so the niners are now my team. The clubs have similar histories winning their first championship in the early 80's and dominating the decade but haven't regained the same level of dominance since. Every new season brings hope that maybe this year will be our year and every year I believe it might be right up until it becomes mathematically impossible for them to pull it off. I see a lot of niners fans have already written them off for this season the same thing happened to the Eels in 09. New coach, lost our half (QB) as the regular season started and after 18 of 26 rounds we had just 5 wins. We won the next 8 straight to make the play offs before loosing the last regular season game 37-0 to the team we had to play the first week of the play offs. We won convincingly the following week, the week after won again against a team that we had never beaten in history and again the week after to qualify for the grand final (SB). We lost the grand final but 6 months later the tittle was stripped form the winners for massive salary cap rorting. I guess what Im saying is keep the faith, there is always hope how ever unlikely it looks. There is also a bit of a connection between the Eels of 09 and this years 49ers. Most attribute the turn around in the Eels season to one man and he is now playing for SF. Hayne won 6 consecutive man of the match awards to lead the eels into the play offs and be voted the leagues MVP. Im not saying he can do that this year for SF although Im sure he will trying to play a part but he certainly knows that while ever there is a chance how ever slim it can be done. If Kap can find some form there is no reason he couldn't do something similar.

There was a couple of interesting points he made like "the difference between the 49ers and the Seahawks was the 2012 draft"

idk if I would go as far to say tank the entire season. but if this keeps up game after game I might consider it...

I don't think tanking is ever good in the NFL. This isn't the NBA, you don't need the #1 pick to build a winner. You always try to win in the NFL, no tanking.

I'm aware of the #1 overall QBs that have led their teams to be great, but there are more that have amounted to nothing. Many great QBs not chosen with the #1 overall pick as well. The Mannings are the only #1 overall pick QBs to win the SB since Elway nearly 20 years ago.

That guy sounds upset now, I'd love to see how much hope he has if we're 2-14, rosters gutted, and we have a 21 year old kid at QB, like he wants.

Joe Montana is not walking through that door, Steve Young is not walking through that door, Andrew Luck is not walking through that door,

you never do
you always play to win
even when you can not make the playoffs, there are alot of things that should motivate you
you never lose on purpose in order to draft higher,
losers mentality
not to mention we are only three games into the season,. i know what the last two games have been like but to say it is premature to write off the season is a understatement in my opinion.
it is a disgrace to hear the words, tank the season , in my opinion

At this stage wins are not important, being competitive is. At no facet of the game are the 9ers competitive.

Yes we should probably do that. Baalke has failed us this offseason and Kap looks like he's maxed out as a player.

Everyone knows if we win on Sunday we're 2-2. Just sayin I know the pass two loses were horrible, but at the end of the day with a win and that's a big with/if win, were exactly the record I was expecting us to be at after 4 games in.

I got 20 seconds into that rubbish and stopped listening. It's exhausting.
After 3 games, no, it's not over. It may be over later in the season, but there's a lot of football to come, a lot of lessons to be learned by everybody on the team (and their supporters), and even some good quality games. If you can't enjoy the game unless we're winning, my guess is you don't actually like the game.

we'll end up with the 2nd pick in the draft after winning a meaningless game against the rams to finish the season. Whoever has the 1st pick will draft the next payton manning while we draft the next Kwame Harris.
