Well, we sat and wondered if perhaps last week was "just a bad day." And we proceeded to literally do nothing different. Well, not literally. We dropped our safeties back and covered the deep routes - so much so that crossing and seems were wide friggin open. But this offensive line problem is simply not going away. Marcus Martin is not ready, and may never be ready for the center position. I am 100 times more comfortable with him being at guard. Jordan Devey is straight up awful as is Eric Pears. And folks point to Week one, but those two were not good week 1 either. I believe Marcus Martin is the primary reason Joe Staley and Alex Boone have under performed. On the defensive side, I'm sorry, but Navorro Bowman needs to come out on 3rd downs. 1. it gives him rest, and 2. the dude isn't what he was in coverage. Mike Davis is a joke. I'm not too high on Jarryd Hayne as a running back, but the guy is better than Mike Davis. Hayne also needs to be returning kicks. This Grant Cohn BS about Hayne being our 3rd best returner is ridiculous. Send Vernon Davis up the friggin seem. He only succeeds over the middle. You traded for Nick Easton - so obviously you know you have a major problem at center. Play him already. My point is, we're 1-2. Which means this is potentially the most crucial game of the season. This team would be tremendously Nolan-esque and Singletary-ied if it went through the worst back-to-back defeats in franchise history and did nothing. And held no one accountable. And played the role of the friggin cheerleader. Stop worrying about the players' bodies and get it down that losing is unacceptable. And losing like that gets people fired mid-season.

That's kinda what I mean though. There are no obvious fixes. I'd like to see Easton play, but outside of him IDK what the heck we could do that wouldn't just be swishing the mouthwash from one cheek to another.

I don't know how feasible it is to change scheme in the middle of the year, so we have to at least shuffle the lineup and try to get better execution, especially on the o-line and pass rush.

Brandon Thomas and Trent Brown need to play. Maybe Easton too. Devey and Pears are a waste of time. Both are terrible and have no potential. Every game they play we miss out on an opportunity to see if these young guys can step up and be better.

Defensively we need more of Armstead, Tartt, and Harold. Armstead is raw, but he still brings a more well-rounded game than any of our DEs. He's a good run-stopper and has some pass rush skill.

Harold brings more speed and natural pass rush ability than Brooks at this point.

Tartt is a playmaker. Between him and Ward, we should be playing more 4 safety looks like the Cardinals do. That's where the strength of the defense is. We invested a ton in the safety position, it's time to play these guys. More coverage ability on the field should help the pass defense.

On point. Pears and Devey may be serviceable backups in an emergency, but never together. The more games that are played, the more it appears this season is lost. Best to at meat see what we have.

Guys like Mathis who has been terrible with the Broncos thus far?

Who were these stud linemen that in a league starved for OL talent somehow survived the entire FA,period?

This season isn't all about the Hayne's touches or giving our Aussie mates from drown under something to cheer for. He can go kick rocks for all I care. Niners need to fix this ASAP. Hayne's PRs or speed walking up to the o-line is not the only thing that will help get wins

I'll admit I'm a homer. I'm glad they fired JH. I didn't mind JT getting the job. But to come into this season with this OL is, in my mind, a worthy of getting Baalke fired. If we are to assume that the niners' aren't going to compete for a championship, the most important thing for this season is seeing whether or not CK is the man going forward. It's hard to really judge a QB when, rightfully, he's expecting pressure on every play.
I agree with some of the suggestions.
Hayne needs to return kicks
Bow is a down lb right now.
DJ needs to replace Acker
More Tart
Ward needs some time at FS
Easton at C
Thomas/Tiller at RG
Brown at RT
Use the pass to setup the run
No more lb's on WR in the slot
More Harold and less AB

Might as well bring in a bunch of guys off the street for a tryout, send the message that people can and will be replaced and if one of those guys really impresses, sign them up.

Here are some changes I think need to happen sooner than latter.

M. Martin, Devey and Pears must go. Easton, Thomas/Martin Brown can they really be worse some how I doubt it. I do feel for Pears he was signed to be a back up and now is being put into a tough position. Your offensive line must start with a very good center he makes the line calls and may not be the "best lineman" on the team but he must be smart and steady. It is hard to grade the linemen when no one knows what protection Martin calls. Personally I think he is the weak link and it is affecting the other linemen too.

A. Armstead in on third downs more. please no more TJE on passing downs.

More Six and seven DB packages. Give the speaker helmet to either Reid or Bethea as they will be on the field all the time. When teams go 3 wide and have 5 receiving options we can not be in base and must get BOTH Bowman and Wilhoite off the field and get Tarrt and Ward on the field. Tarrt hits like a LB but covers like a safety. Bowman can not cover TE's anymore and Wilhoite never could.

If you are going to have Brooks on the field for gods sake do not have him covering a slot receiver. He is great against the run and is a decent pass rusher.

No more White on Kickoffs. I would rather have no one as apposed to White. Hayne is a natural at running with some space he is a much better option.

Move Kap release point more keeping him in the pocket is a huge mistake.

No more Mike Davis for a while he has no vision he needs to sit and learn.

Also if you line up with only Wr and 3TE's, RB or 2TE's and a FB, RB it would appear everyone in the NFL know you are running and by doing this you MAKE the other team put 9 or 10 in the box. Hard to run into that.

Cut Wright don't want him can't win with him. Would rather have McFadden on the 53

One of the Coaches should go back and watch tape of Kap in his first couple games and see the things that he did so well and use them.

Can they do a tryout within the rules (i.e. not flout the Practise squad rules)?

That can't happen, it will ruin Jimmy T and Pear's friendship which dates back to their NFL Europe day's. Which would then put a strain on JT, Baalke, and Jed's Tennis Tuesday social meet up. It would have a catastrophic effect on the organization similar to the way Jim Harbaugh did when he didn't show up to Jed's birthday party.

Can't happen, Pears is important to the organizational structure not just football.
