The same people that say we can't judge players, harshly, that haven't played yet, are saying "we drafted Boldins replacement, we drafted J.Smiths replacement..." and so on.
If we can't say a player will be s**tty, how in the hell can you say they'll be great.....?

This statement is false. Ertz was not on the board when we selected McDonald. We moved up to take Reid in the 1st round at pick 18. Zach Ertz was taken in the 2nd round at pick #35. We then picked Tank at pick #40 and then McDonald at #55.
Interestingly, Kelce is perhaps to be the one b***hing about as he was picked at #63 and led the Chiefs last year with 862 years and 67 receptions. McDonald had 2 receptions for 30 yards last year. Or the other gripe for McDonald's teammate, Luke Willson, who was selected by Seattle at #158.

Because everyone in NT is always right even if they may be wrong because they did 49 mock drafts and watched 49 hours of tape, can't have a negative take on the team even if it makes sense because NT is all about being classy.

The head scratcjer is why no ilb. Why not create competition there? We need more bodies than older veys who maybe can give 400 snaps.
This draft was weird, positionally.

Potential replacement. It goes without saying. But to say the pick is a bust or reach before they got to camp is totally troll.

You just gonna leave Kaepernick out?Originally posted by VoiceofReason:Long time reader but first time poster. I usually give Trent B. the benefit of the doubt when it comes to decisions on who the 49ers keep or don't keep, sign or don't sign. But there is very specific area that he has always confused me...2nd round picks!!! This isn't crying over spilled milk because I never liked or understood several of his 2nd round picks. Trent drafted Taylor Mays, LaMichael James, Carlos Hyde and now Tartt in the 2nd round. I didn't like any of the picks when they were made. Don't get me wrong, I like Carlos Hyde and have high hopes for him this year. But when we drafted him I thought there were more pressing needs than a RB. The other three picks just infuriated me and in my opinion were wasted picks from the start. How do you build a winning team when you keep wasting second round picks? Does anyone else feel the same way?

This is kind of cool. Just watching as the same folks to said "off with his head" to Harbaugh and placed all their faith in Baalke are starting to realize that Baalke is who his drafts said he is. Namely, an above average scout and below average GM. He's fear based, yet defiant. Fear of drafting the "money" positions EARLY (QB, WR, true CB (not slot)), stay in the comfort zone. Yet, while statying in that framework, insists on stretch "I know better than you" picks (e.g., every first round pick before this year, this year's second round pick, etc). Baalke's draft reflects a focus on getting to 8-8 to 10-6, not a focus on winning a championship.
In response to his drafting another OLB that will not see the field this year, he suggests a scheme change to the media, then soft peddels with a "that's for the coaches to figure out"....how to get this guy we don't need on the field. Sad to see the totally inexperienced York, craven for praise given to the uncle, betting the succuss of the franchise on this mediocre talent of a GM, and hoping somehow 5 years of drafting historical evidence was all wrong.
I go back to what I said last year, if you cut Harbaugh, there are 28-30 teams interested in his services in his current role (Head Coach). You cut, Baalke, that number is sub-5, as a GM.
York made the comfortable decision, not the right one. Now as niner fans we have bear the consequences.
So why exactly did he go back to the college level? A guy with that much pride doesn't take a step back just because it's his alma mater.
I don't get why Bob Myers gets so much love for making a tough decision to get rid of Mark Jackson but somehow Baalke and York are Lucifer and Damien for getting rid of Harbaugh.

Damn Right we drafted their replacement and the only reason some you guys can`t see that is because of your Blind Hatred of Baalke and or you Just don`t Have a grasp on Football knowledge,or you are just plain mad because they did not draft the Media Darlings that you were Brainwashed into believing was the right pick,But yet None you Whinners have spent one day one week or one year SCOUTING these guys who know more about these guys then any of us and yey they are stupid ,Baalke don`t know s**t about drafting players,,uggh make it stop with the Non-sense that is the Whinners and the Talking Heads.
here some good reading that describes a lot of you.

Well we are going to see this year because the 49ers bet the farm on Baalke. If he fails to deliver there will be no cover.
We are falling behind Seattle and other NFC West teams for a few reasons. We are not developing talent at the same rate, we haven't been drafting as well as our counterparts and the 49ers have had greater talent attrition.

I love the Tartt pick. He's going to be a beast for us for many years to come.

I agree with this poster; Mays was a Singletary pick all the way

This. Hopefully dude is a much better DC than a TE coach because he had no business in that department. VD and McDonald are going to have much better years this year.

I would bet you not one of those teams would have fired their current coach for Harbaugh if he wanted to stay in the NFL. And you can make a case for a bunch of teams with HC's with 1-2 years with their current teams. His options would have included all teams who had openings (save for Denver, as Elway hired his buddy and likely had a deal done through backdoor channels before it was made formal) and maybe a few teams who currently have coaches who'd have given him a sniff.
Baalke would have drawn some interest with nearly all teams in need of a GM and maybe 2-3 teams with one might have given him at the least an exploratory sniff.

With all the players that were available at every pick, I can't believe who we ended up with. Was really hoping for a bigger splash
