Too often Kaepernick will look to abandon the pocket the instant he reaches the top of his dropback. Coaches hate this because it nullifies the play's route designs. It can also create pressure where none existed.

Also, I'd encourage anyone to go back and watch his TD passes inside the red zone. Very rarely will you see one that isn't on a broken play. It's nearly all broken sandlot type of plays - except for the easy to read playaction passes to a wide open VD from 3 yards away. While the sandlot plays have an "ohh ahh" factor, it isn't how the play is drawn up and a consistent red zone passing attack cannot be based around that.

Got a simple question...

If "we have started multiple games" with a simple fullback flair, wouldn't it have made it easy for the defense to have figured that out based on alignment and personnel and taken that away multiple times?

Benoit is not the first to bring this up, Cosell did as well. Both times that Cosell looked, Bruce Miller was open, Kaepernick just wasn't patient enough and opted to ad-lib instead. One of those times was the INT vs Oakland.

Yep, benching him the entire year wouldn't be a good look. Denying him medical clearance (and having him sit on IR for 2016) probably wouldn't be good either.

I think the way the FO is playing it now is fair enough. They are willing to settle having him on the roster and competing for 2016. Worst-case, he'll be a gadget guy who provides a lot of practice snaps. Best case, he'll totally thrive in Chip's system.

If Kaep's camp wants a clean slate and/or won't settle for "competition," then that's where negotiations would have to start. I'm sure the FO and his agent already met, so the battle lines have already been drawn; someone's just got to budge first and begin the compromise. FO has the advantage of time (Kaep might lose an offseason of work with a new team) and Kaep has the advantage of $$$ (if still injured).

This play should be an easy throw to the fullback. Its setup to pick up some quick yards, get the QB off on a good start.






You see Miller breaking open fast.




Miller is wide open, Woodson is dropping back, the playcall was successful, this should be an easy gain. So now, WTF is Kaepernick doing still holding on to the football..........




Kaepernick inexplicably goes running to the other side of the field.










Boldin is well covered with the safety having deep coverage, Kaepernick tries to go to him anyways and throws the ball off of his backfoot.(bad footwork strikes again) Miller the intended target is just standing there watching him at this point on the other side of the field.








Result, INT. DENIED.







What should have been an easy 5 or 6 yard pickup is instead an INT.
