Yeah, if you remember, people criticized him for being such a patsy with his team-friendly contract. Some people think the team screwed him by signing that contract under false pretenses. I've read that he specifically told the organization that he would do a team-friendly contract so that they could retain and gather good talent. Bottom line is that it's almost totally performance-based. This is one reason why I don't buy this Kaepernick is a bad team mate story. That seems like something a guy who is all about the team would do.
Unfortunately, he didn't hold up his part of the bargain too well. But, they didn't spend any serious money on his line either.
