Totally disagree did Fitz,Hoyer,Mallett go to the NFC championship twice and a SB? That goes a long way in the NFL.
He has a team friendly deal which doesn't leave a team with a long commitment and if he does get released then those teams that might want him will have to fight for his rights in FA.
A couple of things here. Kap came into the league as a dual threat. It took the defensive coordinators awhile to figure out how to stop Kap. But once they did figure out how to stop him, Kap was essentially done. Plus Kap played behind a top 3 offensive line and benefited from a top 3 defensive squad. Fitz, Hoyer or Mallett would have done well with the 49ers just "game managing".
For whatever reason, the current version of Colin Kaepernick is not the same guy that he was back in 2012. Teams have adjusted. He doesn't possess the all around skills that the elite QBs have ie if you take away A....I'll beat you with B. Colin will always be limited.
disagree on the top 3 OL stuff, they were never good at pass blocking....so they figured out Kap, but not Cam or Wilson? No one has completely figured out the duel threat QB they figured out he isn't as good against zone defenses vs man to man.
They stopped calling plays like in 2012-2013 that made Kap successful, maybe it was Kap who wanted to become more of a pocket passing QB or the dummies making the calls this year.
Put him in a offense that spreads the field out (like Seattle or Philly) with a strong running game he will be just fine. Play actions, roll outs, options reads and he can be very effective. Our coaching staff couldn't coach their way out of a paper bag lol.
The ONLY reason I want Gabbert in there is because it will result in a higher draft pick and a coaching change....rip it off like a band-aid.
