Wonder why we traded Vernon if we were going to bench Kap either way? Well...actually, I don't think Vernon's weaknesses work with Gabbert.

Denver most likely called with an offer. VD was going to be FA anyway. after the past two seasons, Vernon has played like crap. he's been outplayed by Celek. i don't think Baalke was looking to re-sign him. might as well get something for him.

The only logical reason I can come up with. It also means that Baalke has officially written this season off. I would have thought there was a chance that the change in QB might have motivated VD to get involved again.

of course this is the truth, we did not trade away the 2012 or 2013 version of vernon. they had a need, he was not fitting into our long range plans. I think the team is ok with celek and bell and gulp mcdonald
IMO Kap just doesnt care any more and we need to move on, from everyone. He's mailing it in and I don't blame him. We need to get rid of all our Coaches, FO, QB, etc.

Kap will get to start for another team and I hope he can start filling his one hole of trusting his receivers cause I'm seeing now that trend throughout his career.

Another source stated the person who leaks the information is not Jed York, but Paraag Marathe. Apparently, Marathe was the main person responsible for the leaks regarding Jim Harbaugh last year and it seems likely he is partially responsible for the Kaepernick drama. Even if York did not leak the information himself, his office seemingly is involved in it. At the very least, York and the other execs cannot keep their feelings discreet. Or, the execs purposefully use it as a tool to gain public support of their decisions.
spot on imo

speaks louder than leaks

Dude didnt care at all this game in fact the whole coaching staff didnt either. Why do you think we called 3 straight runs here? Kap was supposed to be benched after the SEA game but the coaches didnt want Gabbert to face the RAMS D. So you really think Kap gave a f**k about this game and wasnt on autopilot?

Quitter mentality on Kap's part. Should have gone out swinging.

Sad thing is, had we tried, maybe even with Gabbert, we could have beaten the Rams.

Agreed was just calling it how it was. Thats the sad part actually not the wide open Torrey, the fact that its so bad right now that quitting is the option chosen.

The move to bench Kaep was pretty much a given. Has nothing to do with trying to win more games this year. It is instead a decision to reduce fiscal risk to the organization. Since the trade deadline is today. They have been unable to trade Kaep (not surprising at his contract dollar amount) prior to the deadline. So now they will keep him on the bench and make sure that he does not get injured. The contract allows them to cut him prior to April of 2016 and not incur additional cost, unless he were to get injured. If that were to happen the dollar cost to the 49ers goes way up.

Thus the decision to play until trade deadline, then keep on bench through end of year. If not traded by April then cut.

Haven't watched cam this year. All I know is kaps play deserved the benching. So what this tells me is that cam should be no where near mvp conversations.
