As I recall, Barrows covered this story in his book about the 49ers a few years ago. Staley wasn't home when the party (and fire) happened. He had gone back to Michigan to visit family and let some teammates use his place. When Cowboy started throwing the furniture into the fire, Alex Smith texted Staley, who was in disbelief.

Among the furniture burned was Staley's teak patio set. When asked how teak burned, Cowboy said:
"Pretty damn good if I remember right. I guess it had some lacquer on it or something."

Later, Staley confronted Cowboy about the furniture and asked to be reimbursed. Cowboy says he wrote a check for whatever amount Staley asked. Daniel Kilgore swears, however, that Cowboy only offered a modest amount of money and Staley didn't have the guts to ask for more.

Crazy story.

I had a connection to the team during the Harbaugh years. There are stories that remain untold that are insane.

People don't even know half the story of the Kap/Aldon situation.

And that's why the Cowboy was one of the best DE's we've ever had. Dude was mean as hell and never backed down.

Came to post this. Good job finding it👍🏾

Lol, none of this made it to the public during that time, it's crazy to think of all the other things that went on that we'll never know.
Cowboy was one of my favorite 49ers of all time. Him sacking drew beees with the OL guy too was amazing. 2011 division playoffs with harbaugh.

Can't believe they're retiring, we need these guys. Gonna miss Patrick Willis luckily they drafted Fred Warner.
Cowboy was the best. What a player. I also heard the podcast. Pretty funny. I felt sorry for Joe.
