Pat retired because his feet are busted. Its just that simple.

Bingo. The guy has been busting his @$$ since he was ten. Going to work so his dad could spend money (that was supposed to be for bills) on drugs. It's really no surprise that his body is starting to shut down on him.

The guy is a warrior and I believe him when he says that is why he is calling it quits.
i dont think his body is shutting down, he's being proactive

Semantics. He said over and over that his feet wouldn't allow him to play at a level that he thought was acceptable.

I think we are gonna see more and more of players retiring earlier than usual. The NFL game takes a toll on the body and the good players that have already made their money are gonna step out early while they are still healthy.

That level is pretty high, playing half that is still good
I see it this way - If Willis tackled any one of us ONCE legit, we would all be in the hospital lol. Now hes done it for 8 years with guys of similar physical ability. I could only imagine the beating these guys take.

This SUCKS. But I love the guy and respect/admire his decision.

He's right. Willis should be an easy choice for the HOF
I look forward to 2-3 years from now when Gore retires, and the 49ers have Willis and Gore back for a 49ers HOF induction and number retirement ceremony.

lol although im sure BY will be like "WTF, I was next in line!"
I know this isn't a good argument, but still I love it. Not many can buckle Adrian Peterson in his prime like Pat did.

HOF for Patrick Willis.
Willis has been my favorite 49er since he tore it up his rookie year. seeing willis' conference and the honesty that this man lives with. how humble he is even though he could be living like a rockstar and the dignity and pride he carries himself with on and off the field, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Pat and believe him when he says he is leaving because he cant play at the all pro level that we are accustomed to. he's not going to be greedy and stick around milking his past glory like favre and even our own jerry rice did. Pat went out on top of his game and when he noticed he couldnt go as fast or hit as hard as he used to, he called it a career. no shame in that at all. he will be able to walk around, play with his kids and live an actual life after football instead of trying to sue the league for health benefits and care because they played to long. Patrick is a stand up guy and a class act. Thanks for all the great memories Pat, even on those bad teams earlier in your career, you and Frank made sundays watchable. Best of luck in your life outside of football brotha, God bless.
