Adam Schefter;
Patrick Willis would join Jim Brown as only players in NFL history to make 7 straight Pro Bowls + never play an NFL game at age 30 or older.

Not one hint in the press conference that Mr. Willis has any resentment or harbors any hard feelings for Jed York or Trent Baalke. No indication whatsoever, although Timmy K would have us believe differently, that the departure of Harbaugh had anything to do with his decision to retire.

In fact, if I remember correctly, he specifically thanked Jed York and the 49ers for having faith in him and giving him the opportunity to play in the NFL.

Now, we have to wait for the Justin Smith to speak about his future. But, until he actually speaks, we can assume that the "read between the lines" narratives will continue.

I don't think anyone is questioning that.

But, there are some who are.

Timmy K has and continues to questioned it. No big surprise.

One of four commentators on a NFL segment wanted to talk about the "connection" between the departure of Harbaugh and the retirement of Willis. The other three commentators just ignored his comments.

Yes. They are.

So is Willis hurt or has he gone full on religious nut job? Not sure I'd say that to his face though...

He said that his toe isnt going to allow him to perform at an acceptable level going forward, so he knew it was time to go.

As far as "religious nut-job", if he just felt that his faith was drawing him towards helping his community and his church back home, theres nothing wrong with that.

I dont understand why faith-based decisions now have to be refered to as "nuts". Hes made millions, he has a family, and he feels compelled to do more with his life than play a game. Theres nothing nuts about walking away now if he feels his body is failing him, and his mind is more focused on other things.
This still hurts bad. Not seeing Gore or Willis on the field is going to hurt even more.

That's because Tim K knows everything and understands that Harbaugh has healing powers which would allow Willis' toes to function properly as long as Harbaugh was in the same state.

I bet Jed and Trent probably tampered with Willis' shoes to make sure he's crippled and can't play for them to save some cap space.

This is the saddest day I have ever had as a fan of the 49ers.

Walking a mile to my car in the cold rain after drinking and coming down from coke after leaving candlestick after the NFCC OT loss to the Giants Harbaugh's first year.

The whole time Giant fans screaming SUPER BOWL!

Saddest niner moment ever.

Super Bowl Loss close second just cause i was more angry and drunk then sad. And i just went straight home and slept.

Pretty close to what/how me and my buddy felt like after fhe Niners lost to the Vikes in the rain at the Stick in 86 I think it was in the 1st round of the playoffs when Joe was pulled the Steve, just horrid an partying just like you.

It was tough watching that presser. Pat is so loved, it's going to take a while to get over the fact that he's not playing anymore.

True this x100, and when he & Bow were together playing, my god..

Bingo. The guy has been busting his @$$ since he was ten. Going to work so his dad could spend money (that was supposed to be for bills) on drugs. It's really no surprise that his body is starting to shut down on him.

The guy is a warrior and I believe him when he says that is why he is calling it quits.
