De-Harbaughfication.

Otherwise I would have loved to see Donatell stick around as he's an experience 4-3 D coordinator and a hell of a secondary coach.
This is becoming a disaster. Maybe I need to just watch college ball next year.
i guess no harbs allowed

Why does this remind me of what Jim Buss did with Phil Jax

I hate to see Donatell go as bad as Fangio. He could flat out coach that secondary

With Justin (possibly), RayMac, and Donatell gone, I would welcome a more blitzing scheme. Put Cully and Brock at the CB positions and have them press man. Simplify the coverage schemes and let the talent win out.

Schwartz anyone? I think that would be a great hire.

Go Michigan.

This is a complete Disaster, how do you explain an organization firing a DC that had his unit in the top 5 defenses 4 years running & a HC that appeared in a superbowl along with 3 NFCC game's all in the same offseason. Its a nightmare, the kind you cant wake up from.

We won with defense and we thrived even when we had only 3 of 11 projected starters playing towards the end of the season. I mean we were down to 3rd string corners, 4th string LB's , NT's ...etc. and STILL these guys coached their arse off and we were not just good, but top 5. How do u let that go ....on purpose? I really can't wait to read a book one day about what's REALLY going on in 49erLand. I just don't get it.
Yes Fangio was a solid D coordinator but I think many people are forgetting that most of that credit goes towards the players we have on that side of the ball (Willis, Bowman, A.Smith, Brooks, J.Smith etc)...Prior to being handed the keys to this Ferrari, Fangio only cracked the top 10 in points allowed 2 out of 11 years...and those were his first 2 years in Carolina. I hate to see him leave more so for the loss of continuity, but there is hope if we bring in another competent defensive coordinator since the core D is still here and will be healthy this season.

Willis, Bowman, Aldon, etc didn't play the majority of the year. He took backups and made them top 5

u have a good point there. And i remember researching Vic prior to him landing our DC job here and even many people on here at the time were a little (rightfully so) concerned with the hire. But with that said i'll tell u what sold me on him as a legit ELITE DC...this season. That was just CRAZY how good he was this year and what he did with so many rooks /injuries. That was no small accomplishment ...marvelous coaching this season

I still do believe we won't tank defensively either like some do. I'm just looking at both sides of the argument .We can still be a top 10 D regardless....the question is can we still be top 5?
